  1. Good morning everyone. I know it has been some time since I gave you an update so here it is. Old Pine was in the hospital from April 24th until May 3rd. He has been home for a while and is doing much better. He is looking much better also. Today we go back up to start his radiation treatment, I’m not sure if he will still have 10 yet or just the 9 as he is to get 10 total. I don’t know if they will be able to count the one he had last month as one or not since it has been so long. Again, thank you all for praying.
  2. I'm so sorry to hear this. for her family.
  3. This is so sad.
  4. I know I haven’t been in here lately but, here are my miles for the past 3 weeks. April 23 – 29 my miles were 23.8 miles. April 30 – May 12 my miles were 23.19 miles. May 7 – 13 my miles were 24.59 miles. Keep walking and exercising.
  5. A quick up-date. When Old Pine went for his radiation treatment on Monday it went fine. After he finished they went to the oncology department and after seeing him they sent him to the ER and from there he was put in a room. So, he is still up there as he has pneumonia and he was running a bit of a temp. While on chemo if he is running a temp of 101.4 or above he is running a bad temp. The Dr. said he would be in the hospital for 4 - 5 days so he could get some fluids and good strong medications. He isn't eating much at all and I guess that goes with the chemo but, it sure is hard on him as well as me and our DD. What to feed him, I mean meals have really been hard around here as he usually eats so well and now he is eating hardly anything. Cottage cheese, yogurt and other soft foods. Even some of the soft foods he won't eat. Our DD and I went up yesterday afternoon and I was able to help him order his evening meal. I suggested that he order several things and if he could even eat half of each that would be good. We plan to go back up today, but, it will depend on the weather as it has been sleeting out and if the roads are bad, we won't be going. It is around 60 miles one way and on ice that is not good. Again, thank you all for your prayers.
  6. Again I thank you all for your prayers for all of us. We really need them at this time. Old Pine is not wanting to eat or drink much at all and it has been so hard to find something he will eat. I know he needs his protein and such, but, even DD is not getting him to eat right. I know to that this is really a struggle for him but, sometimes I really worry about him. Just this morning I made him a scrambled egg and a slice of toast, he ate one bit of each and that was it. They want him to drink at least 10 - 12 glasses of water or clear liquid a day and he hasn't made that goal but once or twice these past couple weeks. I know he is discouraged by no being able to eat and I keep trying all kinds of foods. He starts his second round of radiation, the one on his head, today and this will be for two weeks every day. Then it will be time for chemo again. After this chemo, they will wait a week or so and then take tests to see how things are doing. He may need to have more chemo if they don't like what they see. Again, for praying.
  7. I have just a minute or so to come in here. I wanted to post the miles for last week. They are 22.44 miles according to my fit bit.
  8. Round 3 of chemo is over as is the radiation treatments 2 times a day. He will be going back for 2 weeks of radiation to the head once a day. These treatments are like a preventive treatment as with small cell cancer it likes to travel fast and one of the first places it would go is to the brain. We sure don't want that to happen so this is the reason for the head treatments. These treatments start next week. Our DDIL wasn't able to come as she had planned but now is in hopes to come to do the driving one of the two weeks of the radiation treatments. I will try to keep you better informed. For anyone on Facebook I do post in there about the treatments too. Again, thank you all for your prayers. We all can use all the prayers that are being sent.
  9. This dog looks so much like our Minnie. Another quick post. Miles for April 2 - 8 were 21.36 and for April 9 - 15 the miles are 24.93. These are the miles according to my fit bit. I went shopping 3 different days so that helped.
  10. I will get to the point. March 19 - 25th I walked 19.29 miles and March 26 - April 1st, I walked 23.85 miles. These miles are all according to my fit bit. Who will be next.
  11. I know things have been really different around here and I just haven’t been on line much at all. Again I thank you all for praying for us. Old Pine is on his next to the last radiation treatment day for now, he goes back 2 times tomorrow and then they will wait for a couple weeks and do 10 days of one a day treatment on his head. This is a just in case the cancer has moved up there. He has at least 2 more chemo sessions, one this month starting on the 12th and then again in May. He is having a bit of difficulty with swallowing as the radiation has thinned part of his esophagus and made it hard on him. He still has his cough along with all of this. He isn’t eating to well and they want him to drink 11 – 12 glasses of water or clear liquids a day but, this isn’t happening very often. He really needs a lot of soft foods and he is getting tired of Yogurt. As for me, I am still coughing and all that but, at least I feel I have made a little progress. I guess this is what so many people have had and are having and it sometimes lasts 4 – 5 weeks. Our DD has driven him up to his treatments all but one week when our oldest DS was here to do it so she could work. Our DDIL will be here next week so she will drive him for the chemo treatments. She has her check- up in Chicago on Monday the 10th and will come on from there. She is the one who had cancer about 10 years ago. Sure doesn’t seem that long ago, but, guess it was someplace between 8 and 10 years. Things have sure changed since then. I will try to let you know how things go after next week. Again, thank you all so much for your prayers.
  12. Thank you so much Momo for doing this post. I just haven't been on line much at all lately. We have all be sick around here lately. DD has had a sore throat for 3 or 4 weeks and now has sinus problems. Old Pine started his second round of chemo with a cold and so was and is on medication. I have been having problems with my sinus also and have medication for this and I only went up on Wednesday last week with them. DD does all the driving or has been until this week. Our oldest DS is here to do the driving this week. Old Pine has only radiation two times a day these next 2 + weeks and then will be done April 4th. He will start a 3rd round of chemo about the 12th of April. _________________ For the week of 5 - 11 I did 23.3 miles and for the week of March 12 - 18 I did 23.26 miles. Have a good day and :bighug2:
  13. Once again I am going to just add miles today, as I am running out of time this morning. I have some things I need to get done today so don't want to spend to much time on here. Last week according to my fit bit, I walked 24.02 miles so that is a much better number than last week. At least I think it is better. I made several trips down and up stairs again. With laundry and finding canned foods etc. I hope you all
  14. I have been so not into doing much at all on line these past few weeks. So will just give you my miles again today. According to my fit bit, I walked 20.94 miles for the week. We weren't on the road so much this week. We are home again this week except for what we want to do. No doctor appointments, Old Pine has an appointment on Thursday with the dietitian to check his sugars. I may get my hair cut too, but, not sure. So you all
  15. Well, I just have things to do so will be putting in just the miles again this week. So, I guess with all the traveling I really didn't do to bad as I got 15.11 miles in last week. We won't be doing as much traveling this week. but, with my thigh and leg now giving me problems I won't be doing a lot of walking either. I am going to see about going to my chiropractor tomorrow and hope this will help. We go back on Wednesday and then next week it will be one trip back up to Bemidji and I think we have a week off.
