Lastest yard sale find!

19 posts in this topic

Back after a long day- but we did get to stop at a few yard sales today and we did good! Stuff for us, stuff for the flea market, stuff for Amish Friends too

Oh and I almost forgot (not)...................

Lori got an 'almost brand new' handmade Dollhouse by a very well-known Dollhouse maker. Lady paid over $350.00 to have it built for granddaughter but she never played with it.

So into the sale it went!

Not for $300.00,

not even $200.00!

Now I know you are thinking they didn't get it for $100.00 did they?

And you are right - - we didn't!

We got it for $50.00!

It is over 3 1/2 feet long, all wood with working doors and window, plus a garage and a porch too!

AND it took 2 of us to carry it into the house!

Been home for 3 hours and Lori is STILL jumping up and down! - LOL

I wonder if it looks like my DD's. I bought a Barbie-sized dollhouse when she was very young. It's very well made, sturdy wood, nice! Never did have the time & money to make it *perfect*. :(

It will make a great "Grandma project" for the someday granddaughter. :D

Oh, beautiful!! Is there a garage door, too? I love the door at the bottom of the stairway. Great details!

Very nice doll house and a GREAT price too!!!

I need to have a yard sale but have been dreading it. The last time I had one the people were so rude and pushy that it was just miserable. I know I couldn't do it with out plenty of help because they come in 'packs' switch or remove tags, get hateful about the prices, want to go into your house or 'explore' areas that are clearly marked off limits, etc. We could really use the extra money but I'm not sure that it would be worth the hassle and all the work.

I did hit a couple over the weekend and got an old kitchen chair/stool/steps($10) (I love those things), an old metal typewriter table w/drawer and drop sides($5), some old Hull planters($2), and some silver coasters for $1 per set.

I will probably put some things on Etsy, put some in a friends shop and donate a bunch of stuff just to avoid having a sale.

OK, here is the deal on Garage Door-

No it didn't have one - ever

= = But = =

I got thinking -seeing there are just a 'few rooms' to work with I might make that garage a Master Bedroom -or- Kitchen /Dining Room?

=#= the farmhouse doesn't 'need' a garage and I don't need to make all the stuff that would be in there-

SO..................

seeing I can't match the wood on the outside(varnished) I plan to make a garage door (non-working) from the front but on the inside put a wall back in there and wallpaper it to match the room?

That way it 'looks' like a garage until you turn it around and then it just looks like a room or two.

For now it is sitting in my Office at home until we find a place to put it (wasn't planning to get 'another' one so soon)- LOL

by the way .................

since I took the pictures Lori has started 'filling' the rooms with furniture already!- LOL

And NOW the REST of the story (sorry Harvey)...................................

Found the makers name on one of the footings -Lanny Wesche

He is well known for making scale model wooden buildings all over the Eastern United States.

wait..................

.

.

.

wait..............

AND WE KNOW HIM!

About 6 months ago we are at a Dollhouse Show(2 hour ride form here) and he had his sawmill buildings (24 feet long) there set up just for show.

Talked to him for 20 minutes about what beautiful work he does on his buildings!

AND now we own one of his Buildings!

How cool is THAT!

This was just another thing that happened to us by 'FATE'!

Saturday we were going to Auburn to visit our friends who own a Dollhouse Shop (and buy stuff too).

But Thursday we got done early 'farming' so decided to go out Thursday night and visit - sure they said come on over.

SO - Saturday morning comes and we have nothing to do for 3 hours? So we get the paper and find some yard sales and off we go. Did good finding things for us, the Flea Market and for friends.

BUT - on the way Home remembered that the one bridge is off (replacing it) so had to take a detour around it. Miss the one turn and we were out in the middle of nowhere. As we are driving along Lori sees a yard sale sign so I slowed down (van will NEVER pass a yard sale sign!).

It was one that wasn't in the paper but as we got close I saw the dollhouse sitting on a table in the driveway. As I groaned Lori asked WHAT? I just said wait until I stop the van before you jump out, AND no running!

Well, see first post for what happened next! LOL
