Patriot Gaurd/American Legion Riders

My brother became a Patriot Gaurd motorcyle rider a few years ago, and I have been so touched, impressed and inspired by the work that these guys and gals do.

It all began when a bunch of mostly Harley riders got together to surround families of fallen soldiers to protect them from insensitive protesters at funeral services. Now they run many "missions" of compassion and patriotism. They gather in numbers, engines roaring, flags waving to welcome combat soldiers home. BTW, they only run "missions" by request, and never show up uninvited. They have become increasing well organised and have now partnered with American Legion riders. Most riders are involved with both clubs. PGR and AL riders are active all across our country.

Just this past week, a school boy in CA rode his bicycle to school with a flag waving in honor of Veterans Day. The Principal told him he shouldn't bring the flag to school, as it "might offend someone" American Legion riders rallied around him, about 50 strong, and escorted this young American to school on their Harleys, flags flaring. When it made the evening news, the Principal apologized and said he would not make such a mistake again.

It occured to me that these guys and gals perform services for all of us on some level. They are often where I wish I could be, but have to work or something. Welcoming soldiers home from war, saluting those who have fallen while supporting the families, and supporting all of our flag wavers...even the youngest among us.

So today, I salute YOU!! Thanks to our unique and much needed American Patriots of the Patriot Gaurd Riders and American Legion Riders!!

Actually, he was asked to remove it because the school had received/become aware of threats of bodily harm to the young man.

this group of riders where in my area yesterday for a funeral of a young man who passed away from wonds from serving in our country the group of people call Westboro Baptist Church was going to show up and protest at this funeral well not only did Patriot Gaurd show up on their bikes but so did over 2000 people from my area holding flags in front of the church to keep the protesters away from the funeral the protesters showed up but just left. It was so amazing to see that many people lined up in front of the church for over a mile holding American flags. and to see all those bikers riding in front of the funeral line with their flags was just amazing it gave me a chance to tell my kids what this country is all about and even though there are people out there that do not do the right things but there are many out there that knows what rights and other things we talked about.

BLESS your town!! I saw the story on the news and I was proud of everyone who came out to support and protect the family. Prayers for misguided Westboro Baptist Church.
