After much discussion between Mountain Man and myself, we've decided NOT to buy the parcel across the road from Little House (because it's not really a saleable property because it's in a flood plain & (an irregular size) the city won't let anybody build anything on it except storage sheds etc. We felt we'd be better served to put our dollars into a parcel "away" from all our properties and a place that we could "camp" in our travel trailer while we build a small cabin of some sort...and move our sheds etc., to this parcel rather than move it to the LH parcel where we'd have to move them again IF we bought some land. Not to mention that we would have a sellable piece of property. So...we'll just finish LH and move there & make do as well as keep the homestead house where Mother & Son live. When Mother moves to heaven, then we'll make the decision (again) whether we want to do a little work on the lower half and move into it, or rent it out (should bring a fairly decent monthly rent) and still leave Son a place that he can afford on his disability. Either way, Mountain Man will have his "man-cave garage" as long as he wants it, and can build a partition across one of the bays for the lower unit to have a single garage (paying alot more rent). Son would love space in the garage so he could work on his "gear-head" truck but not at $300 a month!!!!! "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord..." and we believe we're walking in His footsteps. With everything going on these days, we just feel we need to be where we can have some chickens, some rabbits, a goat or two which we just can't do it the cities...especially if Philbe wants a Rooster!!! Also want to do some research of guineas (I know they're really good at being alarms) to see if it would be worth having some or a pain in the yah-yah. EVERY animal's mouth we feed must have a purpose. Right now Abby-girl is our "watch" dog and is doing an excellent job of alerting us to any sound out of the ordinary and definitely strange people. I'm confident that all here will whisper a prayer to the Lord that we are accurate in following His steps.

Sounds like a plan, Philbe. That land may not have much of a resale value. You could be stuck with it a long long time. I know at my age, everything I do to this place I keep in mind resale value and what will my return out of it be.
