Rough Weather Coming Again

Recommended Posts

I'm getting ready for a tough couple of days weather wise. Just when we thought it was over. We are supposed to get rain, sleet, ice, high winds and snow from now until Thursday PM. It's already started to rain. Ugh.

I got my shower and hair washed, and some extra water stored up. I'm getting ready to head over to the grocery store. I was planning on going today anyway. I just need milk and some fresh fruit. Then I'm going to swing by Wal-Mart and pick up a big squatty tote to do what Philbe did with T.P. In other words smash it flat to store more. It will sure be a lot better than those huge bales I get from Sam's Club. Thanks for the idea! And I've got my Kindle charging. They say the ice and high winds could pull down power lines so I'm getting ready. I still have some firewood inside too. It's supposed to get down around 5 degrees with a -12 wind chill tonight. I'm sooo over winter this year.

The power is off a few miles from me because of a power line down but they didn't say what happened. They didn't have school today and it's already called off tomorrow. Supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow on top of everything. Joy. I'm gonna kill that groundhog.

This has been a long, hard winter for so many. :( Just a few more days of hot chocolate, candles, and board games. I know I'm far south from you...but we had our first Bluebonnet and I have seen 3 gorgeous Purple thistles! SPRING WILL COME!!! Stay safe and warm!

Near 80 yesterday dropped to 43 in about 3 hours. Hard gusts of wind about 9 pm surely took shingles off of houses that had asphalt shingles. A limb that was broken by ice was yanked out of the tree ( i have not checked if more branches were broken.) and thrown 30 or 40 ft from the tree.

I remember now I left the trash basket outside..wonder where it ended up?

Still another official week of winter, for March this has not been as constantly windy as some in years past.

Last weekend we got nearly a foot of snow...no wind fortunately, to knock snow-ladened branches onto power lines.

Yesterday we got 5 more inches with wind. Not really strong but some gusts were bad. And it snowed all day! So if that's the storm system coming at those of you in the south.....it's coming! MINUS 10 last nite but already sunny and up to 40 today.

MtRider :frozen: Moisture, we need. SubZERO....not!

Be sure to check in Jeeps...and let us know you're fairin' good! Yes, squashing the tp really let us put alot of rolls into one big rubber trash barrel. As I mentioned, we wanted the flat snap down lids so we could stack them or ... make them look like something they're not :-) We only got a dusting of snow a day or so ago, and today was sunny, windy & about 45, a big shift from the 60-70's we were having. Not too bad, but my sinus' and ears seems to be reacting to "something". Feeling better than I did a few hours ago, but I gots my Claritin ready (the behind the pharmcist counter stuff) and also Abby-girls allergy pills. We'll have to keep watch on her ears now that spring is coming in....labs are prone to allergies in their ears etc...especially during June, July & August...and she's a swimmer so even more so.

It was a very windy night last night but by morning everything was still upright. I'm always so thankful for that. There are a lot of big old trees behind my house and when we get high winds, I'm always afraid one will come crashing down on my house. And usually 1-2 of my fence panels fall over. My power stayed on too. We got about 5 inches of snow with a couple of more expected but the wind is helping to blow a lot of it away. So, all in all it was a pretty good night. The temp was 3 degrees but tomorrow it is supposed to be 50.

My brother in VA spent quality time trying to hold onto....and refasten one end of his huge fabric out building during that WIND! So he's standing on the top of a 12' step ladder, wrestling with the fabric [that's supposed to withstand this sort of thing] ...pulling the fabric back between wind blasts.... :o And they lose electric power. He's up there buffeted in the wind in total darkness! Can't let go to start generator cuz...the whole dang skin might rip loose and this is his main work/storage building for construction projects.

MtRider ...as the Laura Ingalls Wilder books used to say: All's well that ends well. He got it re-secured and did not step off tall ladder.
