Crock Pot Cooking Recipes

Recommended Posts

I thought this was interesting. She cooked everyday with her crock pot for a year and never made the same recipe twice. I have no idea if the recipes are any good or not as I haven't tried them but thought it could be an inspiration for ideas.

She also says they are gluten free. I don't now that either as I don't have that problem so I'm not up on what is and what isn't safe.

I rarely use my crock pot because:

1. I don't like to leave the house with it on.

2. The smell of the food cooking all day drives me wild and I can't wait to dig in.

Hopefully someone can use the info.

thanks will check it out!

I Love cooking that way as it does save heating up the stove, keeps the house cool and makes any cheap meat taste good and tender.

YES some days I wish Lori would come home early from work so we could eat as the whole house smells so good! and 'most' times I cook on hight (4 hours) while home or start it in morning (4 am) and it is done beore we go out. Reheat when you get home on stove or microwave?

I'd be lost without my crocks, both electric and my cast iroon Bean Pot and my Dutch Oven. I keep a small electric one in the travel trailer and keep the cast iron Bean Pot and Dutch Oven here at home until we go camping. I used the cast iron Bean Pot yesterday to make beef & beans, so it was on the stove for about 4 hours. Mtn.Man loves coming home to the smells! I know what you mean AH about having to stay out of the good smellin' stuff! But...the cook does have to taste it to make sure everybody in the pot is getting along! LOL

Thanks Jeepers. I AM gluten free so will check out these recipes asap. I, too, love my crock pots. I even have a small 12-volt one for the motorhome. I start it in the morning when we are ready to leave and set it in the sink. It cooks all day and is done in time to eat after we get set up for the day. Talk about SMELLS driving you nuts. We get comments about the rich smells coming from the vehicle from people parked beside us at gas stations and etc. Once we met a delightfully humorous couple when we came out of the grocery store to find them standing patiently outside our motorhome with plates and forks in hand. We all laughed and ended up inviting them to camp with us nearby (they had their own RV). Yup, they had supper with us, bringing a fair amount of goodies to go with it.

Thanks again. This will give me a chance to try out some new recipes on other unsuspecting travelers. :yum3:

You're welcome guys. I do use my crock pot once in a while especially if I know I'm going to be around to check on it every now and then. I'm just nervous letting it go for 8-9 hours at a time unsupervised. I always wonder what would happen if there was a short in the cord and a fire started. Sigh. :Blushing:

I don't have any out buildings and my garage is built on to the house, but setting it in the sink is a good option.
