Jeepers
A woman I 'know' on another site just died today from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease also known as Mad Cow Disease. She went very fast. It was a matter of about two months from completely healthy to death. She started having slurred speech to balance problems. Then her mind went. Her husband tried to tell the doctors what it was but they wouldn't listen. Not that it would have mattered really. It's always fatal. But still... I think her mother and her aunt died from the same thing. She donated her brain to help find out more information on this disease. Supposedly it's from eating infected beef. She was so funny and such a giving person. Anyway, it was/is very sad especially for her family and friends and she will be greatly missed. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Very sad story I'm sure. Do they know where she came in contact with the contaminated beef? Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
"They" say the only way to get this disease is through tainted beef. I don't know. I have a feeling there are other ways. Or maybe it mutates in some people. I'm not even sure if the doctors really know. The only thing I do now for sure is it was C.J. disease and her mother died from the same thing and I read where her aunt did too. And it is a horrible horrible disease but mercifully quick. I have no idea where it came from or how they contracted it but she did live in a town north east of Pittsburgh. It's really devastating to her family. Quote Link to comment
Twilight
The inherited type does not come from tainted beef. Both animals and humans have spongiform encephalopathies. But the inherited type which is 85 percent of all cases does not come from animals. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Thanks Twilight. I was thinking something different was going on since 3 members of the blood family has died from this. Quote Link to comment
dogmom4
Wow. Never knew that. I thought you could only get it from eating bad beef. Quote Link to comment
