Here goes...in a large stock pot add:

3 cups of lentils (green or orange or both) - soak over night

1 cup of black-eyed peas - soak over night

Rinse and bring to a boil until lentils and peas are soft.

Then add:

2 cups of chopped onions

2 cups of wild rice

2 tablespoons of garlic powder

1 tablespoon of cumin

1 tablespoon of worcheshire sauce

1 tablespoon of suger

3 tablespoons of real salt (or canning salt)

1 can of diced tomatoes

Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to simmer until everything is tasted to suit you. Then...

Add 4 tablespoons of liquid smoke, and one 1 tablespoon of Kitchen Bouquet.

Let me know whatcha think...

I'm not a fan of black eyed peas. Have you made this with just lentils, We2? And have you canned this?

Perhaps you can sub the blackeyed peas with some other small sized bean? You can always can beans etc. Check out Linda's Pantry...she does a lot of bean canning. Also, The Ball book has some recipe's. I use theirs (and some of hers) to can my pork-n-beans, my chili beans and my cajun bean soup).
