Are you buying a Powerball ticket?

I put this in "Humor Me" because we all know how ridiculous the odds actually are. :girlneener:

Yeah, I bought some. The lottery is my one "vice". (NOT counting chocolate as a vice, OK???? )

It's sitting at 1.4 BILLION dollars at this time. Might go higher by Wednesday; in fact, its pretty positive that it will by the time the drawing happens.

Silly, I know, but I figure I could finally get DH out of his workplace if I hit even some of it. His workplace is getting more & more bizarre. (Odd, doesn't-make-sense "business decisions".)

My state doesn't allow winners to be anonymous, but you can create a legal foundation to hide behind. That's what I would do. And you'd need LOTS and LOTS of legal and financial experts.

Thoughts? Dreams? Extreme silliness????

Lots of legal/financial advice. So many really SAD stories of people who've won big lotteries and wrecked their lives. Getting a whole lotta something all at once must be pretty overwhelming.

:happy0203: Course I'd still like to try it ........ :hapydancsmil:

I'm sure we're all convinced we'd do just fine managing the problem of having TOO MUCH $$$ ...as opposed to TOO LITTLE $$$$.

MtRider ....could be fun! :24::laughkick::008Laughing::balloons::grinning-smiley-044:

Once upon a time I thought I would like to have a million to bestow.

Of course every town may not be like this one..where every one has their hand out for money but would not think about doing a hair of work. The more you give the more they want.

There are those that genuinely need money and those are the ones I would find a way to help.

But buy a ticket no way.

yes and would hire accountant, lawyer and financial advisors with very good reputations right off the bat. If i were to win any good amount from this next drawing. My book I am writing is about this very thing in these trying times. I think I came up with a good plan and fortunately do team up with some very good people to get things done. ( yea, that is why it is fiction! ) .

That's why I love reading/writing FICTION. It's better than "Calgon" to ..."take you away". :laughkick:

I was laughing so hard as my friend sent me a series of emails entitled "If I won I'd...." :008Laughing:

MtRider ....hmm, wonder what percentage of y'all aren't old enough to remember THAT commercial?

 my stove and oven just stopped working during part way through my lunch meal prep..... I sure could use even minor win. Be right handy about now. No hot water for a month either. Trying to just relax tonight though politics and Iran are hot buttons tonight , cant watch fb wall much just now.

I must say I am showing amazing fortitude and restraint under these continued conditions.

I'm in seven different ticket pools for this, with a total cash outlay of under $20 and a share in 59 different sets of numbers. So what if my cut of the pot is only sixteen million?

I'd contact an accountant/lawyer/taxman first. Luckily, I know a guy who knows a guy who handles all that. He can revive the family foundation we used to use to grant money to extended family members and make certain other donations.

And I'd buy land. Beautiful land. They quit making it, you know.

Where I used to live....someone a few miles from me..won big. Just average earner before ,modest house, he first built houses for his parents and in-laws. Then he got them new cars. Then he added to his own house, made a very nice playground for his children. Nothing was really ostentatious, more a dressing up a plain Jane house/property. His banker was also mine..and he told me that every month he came in for a loan to tide him over until the next check. His wife left him shortly and the place set empty. I never knew them, but if she was the grasping type, in this state the wife gets half.
Money breeds greed.

I would have to go out of state to buy one. The lottery is illegal in Alabama. I could get to GA or TN in less than an hour.

Ironically, one of the winning tickets was purchased where I grew up in FL. Wonder if it's anyone I know?
