Jeepers
Sass, I spend way too much time over there. The brown bear site there is really good in the summer. The bears hang out at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park in Alaska and fish for salmon. It's even nice to see the fish jump up the falls. The baby bears are so cute. They are hibernating now so no live cameras until they come back out. Park rangers give talks every once in a while and I've learned a lot about bears. By the way bears do "go" in the woods and also the water and any place they happen to be. The bird nests are very educational in the spring. It shows egg laying, hatching, feeding, fledging etc. up close and personal. And how they turn the eggs to keep the baby inside the egg warm and from sticking to the shell. And I now know how eagles poop. Humming birds are nice with their tiny nests and eggs and their long tongues. All of the sites are nature at it's rawest so there can be some human heartache once in awhile too. Most of the cameras are hidden so there is very little human intervention. Survival of the fittest. We know about that here! But those are rare occasions in the whole scheme of things. Many of the sites have volunteers controlling the cameras remotely from their homes across the country. Some have sound and some don't. Oh my, the places I've gone and the things I've seen there. Better than anything on TV. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
And I now know how eagles poop. And education like that cannot be had for fame or fortune. Seriously, if I had unlimited bandwidth, I'd NEVER get anything done. I would be absolutely fascinated! MtRider .....someday??? Quote Link to comment
