WormGuy
I put this here so hopefully more people will see it. This is an email I got today. Beware of Scams that Use the USA.gov Name USA.gov will never request your personal information Beware: scammers are using the USA.gov name as part of an e-mail phishing scam to collect your personal information on a fake IRS website. Don't take the bait. USA.gov will never contact you to request your personal information. If your receive an e-mail that's supposed to be from a government program, and it seems legitimate, do your homework: Step 1: Double check any offers or demands by contacting the agency mentioned in the claim. Step 2: Use the contact information listed in the USA.gov Index of U.S. Government Departments and Agencies to contact the agency and not the contact information provided in the e-mail. Step 3: Forward tax related phishing e-mails to the IRS at phishing@IRS.gov. Report all other government imposter phishing e-mail scams to the Federal Trade Commission. John Quote Link to comment

Jeepers
A timely reminder as Turbo Tax was recently hacked. They stopped taking online tax info for state taxes. It started in Utah. I don't know if it has been resolved yet or not. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
This is why DH resisted putting his tax clients at risk until he could no longer legally do taxes with paper and USPO. The only ways to reduce risk besides ton of antivirus software is to sequester a computer for JUST doing tax it business. Rarely gets on Internet but to send in. Rather increases operating costs if you have separate computers dedicated to just one task.....but Life used to be a LOT MORE SIMPLE! Thieves used to have to accost us in person.....not from half way around the globe. MtRider Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Turbo Tax must have gotten things cleared for State. We used this again this year and have already received our RE taxes refunded to us. Sure timely and much needed! Quote Link to comment
