Grapefruit Seed Extract

I have been reading about Grapefruit Seed Extract. Seems to be good for the immune system, can purify water, clean fruit and veggies...They recommend it highly in Pasport to Survival and I was reading about it in Bread Beckers site. Here is the link to that info -

I would like to get some. Does anyone use this stuff, have a good (cheap) source, or have more knowledge about it?

It made me SO sick when I took it but then I could have just been allergic to it.

We use this often. You can gargle with it for sore throats, does taste quite bitter though. The anti-microbial properties of GSE are supposed to help kill off cold and strep viruses. It helps heal mouth sores also. I use about 15 drops in my humidified each time I fill it - helps cut down on bacterial growth and keeps the water cleaner. You can also use it mixed with water, (50 drops to 32 oz.) in a spray bottle as an all purpose cleaner/sanitizer.

My son has terrible sinus congestion, he uses a nasal spray made with this - works better than any of the pills or rx nasal sprays we have tried.

I buy mine at Whole Foods and a 4oz bottle contains approx. 4000 drops.

Hope this helps.

We have used this before too and love it. The taste is horrible though so I keep empty gelatin capsules and if we need to take it, I can fit 10 drops in a capsule and swallow it without tasting it.

My question though is can it be used, diluted with water to wash out wounds and kill infections?

I have used this - it is an anti-microbial and germicide.

I've also used the nasal spray and made my own.

It tastes terrible but it really works to get rid of sinus infections.

On wounds, would you use it straight or dilute it? I am wondering if it would be harsh on the skin undiluted...

I am thinking of packing some in my emergency supplies...
