The WE2's
Went to use our "weed wackers" and found they need a serious sharpening, as do our push mowers. We're not apposed to gas powered yard tools, but it's good exercise to use man power and keep our prep tools in shape. Does anyone around here know of a good way to sharpen weed wackers, and even push mowers? It costs so much to take them to retail businesses to have it done. Any of you's do this yourself, got any ideas? Quote Link to comment
Canned Nerd
I use my Dremel with a special attachment for sharpening, otherwise a good flat file should do the trick. Quote Link to comment
Amishway Homesteaders
a seach of the net turned up both pro and con for sharpening your reel mower. We have done it in the past and it is a pain to get it done right so it still mows. Our Amish Friend does it for $15 (shearpen, sighten anything that needs it and oil parts) and seeing we have a small area to mow we can get by with doing it every other year. Plus we have 2 (plus a spare) so we can mow together. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
We have two reel mowers also...thanks for the idea. We have several Amish and Mennonote communities in our county, so might just give them a try! We also have a very nice dremel set that Mtn.Man uses in his work and we also use it to file Abby's toenails. Will give that a try on the weed wackers! Quote Link to comment
