BigM
"The Riot Act" by someone? Ever wonder where the term came from??This GuyHenry Sacheverell: In a nut shell he wrote a couple of sermons that the Catholic church was not fond of. He was tried, suspended and the sermons burned. The people rioted (Sacheverell riots) which lead to the passing of a law called, "The Riot Act".Turns out, Sir Henry Sacheverell is my 15th Great Grand Father. Looks like we have a long line of speaking up for what we believe! How COOL is that!! Quote Link to comment
BigM
We thought so. So far I've traced one line back to the late 900s. It's a lot easier when you have "Sirs" and "Lords" and Barons" because they kept the lists even then! Quote Link to comment
