My husband

My husband is close to finishing up his year deployment in Iraq. He should be home in June. It's been a very hard year but we are nearly finished with it. Any military wife will tell you that the as soon as their soldier is gone, things around the house immediately start to break and you get to deal with it all by yourself. I've had health issues and even had to have surgery and heal without my love being here. A couple of weeks ago, I got to deal with the sewer backing up in my basement. June can not get here soon enough!

Are there any other military wives here?

My DH was in the Reserves years ago, so I don't know what you are going through. However, I wish the best for both of you and that the days will fly by until you have him home again.

My DH is retired military, but we were fortunate that he only had 2 month TDY's to do. Our DSIL has been deployed twice (and DD can relate to things breaking down and children being sick while he was away), and our #1DS was deployed once and his bride was able to live with her parents and work on her Master's while he was gone. Thank you for you and your DH's committment to our country.

Carly I understand somewhat, having been in the military myself and surrounded in my neighborhood in Norfolk with friends who's husbands were out to sea and such, but this is different. We were not at war at that time, although that is when the terror against Westerners got started. I've watched my son as his wife went to overseas duty, in the warzones and Gulf, I have other friends on FB, young military wives, some of them have their spouses in Afghanistan and Iraq mostly before the current times...... most of them are very strong really, they deal with it, only a very few were not that emotionally strong and couldn't cope at all. I bet you learned what you could do if you didn't know before despite worry and loneliness for him... and it is very good to hear he will be coming home again.

I too, mostly as an older observer, I see the affects on my son, his wife as they do lose friends, several in fact over the years... and I am glad to say my DIL is now transferring to Ft Worth Recruiting station and will have a three year break.

I think everyone is exausted with continual war.... and I see the reactions to that continual stress taking it's toll, so God Bless and keep going, you maintain the homefront and I hope you have many who are supportive of you when you need it, including us, always. I can say if you doubt yourself, you are truly stronger than you know, in all the ways you need to be. You went through a lot this year already... and it will be wonderful to have him home soon.... you can pat yourself on the back ok? Stand tall, ya done good! :americanflag:

I, too, thank all of the servicemen and women and their families for all they do for our country. Years ago, my DH was in Vietnam for well over a year. I had a toddler, but was fortunate to move back to hometown where we had family. I know it is hard for those that can't do that. Always know that the troops and families are in our prayers daily. God bless you.:americanflag:

Carly~

Thank you and your husband for your sacrifice.

BIL is AF, newly married currently stateside, just moved bases. But his last TOD was in Chili training their AF when the earthquake hit. They ended up running missions with the Chilean AF as part of their training. DH's good friend is career Marine and just deployed for a year to the desert, first time since he has been married and had their son (2). One of "my girls" just went to Japan and her little sis just came back from Afghanistan. So, I don't have true first hand experience.
