Dear Diary,

Warning - Major Rant :banghead:

I am sick of being sick. I am tired of obsticles and trials. This year has been a true challenge... I don't want no more, please?

We got into the doctors office yesterday and got meds to combat the crud we have. Isn't a cold or the flu, that has dragged us both down, strep & bronchitus. Waiting for the meds to cure my kidneys, in the mean time, beginning to feel the benefit slightly from the new meds.

Last week, I installed an update on my Mac. I ignored the notice saying I was using an older version of encryption on it. Everything was working properly and the changes were not bad. Some extra stuff was installed, I am not interested in, but otherwise nothing too drastic. Today, I decided to go ahead and use the new program, the machine has been telling me I need to be using. Long story short...

I lost everything, disappeared, every single document, 7,000 pictures, all my favorites, all the Word/Excell/Powerpoint programs & documents, photo editing programs, website design programs, Kindle, FireFox, Google Chrome and much more, but it kept junk like a stupid downloaded card game? How messed up is that?

There was absolutely NO warning, nothing, nada, zip, that updating the encryption program would wipe out my stuff. 99% of the data was business -invoices, coorespondance, business meeting minutes, contracts, addresses, etc. I have a back-up of most of it, but I will have to re-install the programs first - if it will work with the update.....

Frustrated I turned on my PC - good ole Win XP... outdated hardware, almost obsolete... and came here to :sad-smiley-012:

Thanks Microsoft and Apple .... for NOTHING!

Ok, Ok... I'll get off my :soapbox: buck it up and pray for a better season to come....

:sigh:

I am sorry, please look into therapeutic food grade, essential oils for fighting the strep and stuff..... some are antiviral in nature as well... easy to implement daily usage ......might help you regain some health stability faster and maintain it? Also, lemon balm tea now!!!!!!!!! In general that will help too from what I have been reading about it lately..... quick ... and yea, sit back and it will calm your frustration level ..... it's not the only one. If you can make some quick muffins and got it, add some cinnamon and some ginger .... just add a muffin a day to your diet or more if you can take in more...... two maybe , all day... according to dietary needs..... simple herbs, but oh so powerful.... most folks have some of that ....

nothing to speak of has ever been downloaded on this mac....

it tells me my programs from mail to browsing are not compatible.

I do hope you have everything you need backed up...

Well that sucks!

Hope you start to feel better soon! I have such a love/hate relationship with electronics. Go ahead and stomp, yell, cry and throw a hissy fit...it really does help. BTDT. Then dry your eyes, smack your computer upside the head and get to downloading. Don't let this beat you up! Your are bigger and smarter than that ugly old box. Show it who's boss girlfriend. :baseballbat:

Boy oh boy...that's a 'blister" about your pc. I don't have a mac system, never have. Keeping everything (even my software) backed up on jump drives is a priority. We have been glad several times :-) My notebook is XP so I'm very careful not to download anything that will "update" it. Did that ONCE and PTL it was before they discontinued support and I was able to go online to the ACER web site and restore it, but I did lose all the shortcuts. Our house pc (the one that doesn't travel) is Vista & the new laptop is Win7. And again, I'm VERY careful about what I allow to update. Change your settings so that you will be notified but nothing is installed. I also run Norton 360 and it's really good about keeping all three of our pc's "tuned up". I'm hoping you'll be "steady as you go" and just re-load the things you need from your storage devices.

New day.

:sorry: about the rant. When I saw everything was gone, I panicked. In the past, I'd call my mom, whine about it to her. She's listen, then, always come up with ideas to over come and conquer. Added to my frustration, the version of Firefox on my XP said it needed to be updated.... when I did the update, I got the "OOOPS" message from FF saying it lost all my favorites. Yesterday was just one of those days.

:sSig_thankyou: all for the kind words.

The thing that irritated me, was there was no type of warning. Yes, everything is backed up and I have the installation discs, that is not the point. It makes me strongly believe in 'planned obsolescence'. I think most of the current tech updates are due to the smart phone industry. Sometimes, I am a creature of habit and do not like change, especially when something is working fine as is.

That being said, the main reasons I keep our computers up to date, is not only to keep up with the changes in the technology industry but to make sure all security updates are in place.

Time to go research and study......

Wychwood, things are getting better. I am trying to keep a positive attitude.

Thanks Windmorn, nice to see you again, hope all is going well with you and yours.

Sass, we are doing everything our doctor suggested and more. This too shall pass.

Twilight, it's Apple trying to keep up with the competition. I think geeks have way too much time on their hands and think up crazy stuff. lol

I like that Mt_Rider, ______ and pray ______ and pray.... and pray.... and pray.... :happy0203:

I thought about smacking my computer Jeepers, then decided not to... with the luck I was having yesterday, something else would have broke. :o

Daylily & WE2's, my history has taught me, time and again, to back up everything. Thanks Dogmom4 :bouquet:

Thank you again for listening to me rant. New day, clear skies, birds singing waiting for their seed, and I'm beginning to feel better. Makes me wonder about what would have happened in a :smiley_shitfan: situation..... Thankfully we still have the resources to "overcome and conquer".
