  1. Isn't that stove a real beauty? Ours is a 1940's model. Not at all air tight and eats through wood very quickly. Everything pictured looks delicious. Well done!
  2. So far this year I've made Violet and Redbud jellies. I have dandelion tea brewing now. The violet doesn't have much taste, nor did it set. So it will be syrup in lemonade or on pancakes.
  3. I'm trying to get some redbud 🌸 blossoms so I can try it. And maybe lilac!
  4. Mine are Nigerian Dwarf. That's the momma who gave me 5 kids a few weeks ago. 3 just weren't strong enough to live although I tried my best. She rejected one and I saved her, she my bottle baby. And she's raising one.
  5. I've lost my mind, or baby duck needed friends. My youngest daughter's neighbor offered us her ducks for next to nothing. They are laying. 4 different breeds. Did I mention there's 24? Good things there's a creek close or if never get anything done but water!
  6. We had a Jersey for a couple of years. Last year she gave us a beautiful heifer we are hoping will be our new family cow. We lost mama this winter and it still makes me pout. Lots of feed and milking, we had a machine so there was cleaning out and the buckets. Worrying about mastitis (that about stressed me over the edge). But so much fun, excitement and love. I've had goats too and loved them equally!
  7. We rent a few acres a mile away from the house.
  8. I've been making 3 ingredient biscuits for a few years now. I could never make good biscuits until I found this one! 2 cups self-rising flour 1 to 1 1/4 c heavy cream 1 pinch of salt Preheat oven to 450⁰ Combine all ingredients. This dough tends to be a bit dry. Once mixed together dump out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it 10-12 times and press out to 1 inch. Cut with biscuit cutter. Do not twist cutter. Put on an greased cookie sheet. Bake at 450⁰ for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 6 biscuits
  9. Thank you for sharing! I spend way too much time on YouTube watching Homesteaders and Cooks!
  10. Sadly he was found deceased. Took 2 days to recover his body. Please pray for his family!
  11. My twins will be 32 this summer.
  12. You have twins? How old are they?
  13. This has always been one of my favorite threads on MrsS! Last night after supper I cooked 3 pounds of hamburger. 2 pounds I turned into taco meat for the weekend. The remaining pound I plan to make beef stroganoff for tonight's supper! I have 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs thawed in the fridge, what are some ideas I could use then in?
  14. Here we are the first of April! ! Do you have any big plans in April? Will you be planting a garden? I sit with a 1 and 2 year old daily. I'm looking forward to warmer weather so they can get outside and run their energy off! Last evening we learned a friend drove through flood waters. (PLEASE NEVER DO THAT!) His truck stalled in the water and he's now missing. If you'd be willing I'd appreciate prayers he's found and for his family!

    Bees

I love our honeybees! Hubby does most of the work with them. Even with my full armor on, I'm scared of being stung! I'd like to learn some natural ways to keep mites and wax moths at bay. We harvest in the late spring and usually leave the rest for them to make it through winter. If anyone knows where I could find some free online bee "classes", please let me know! I can only learn so much from YouTube!
