A few ideas :)

I have a few ideas I'm thinking about for MrsSurvival so I figured I'd share some of them with you. These ideas are only preliminary but I'd like to update our site.

 

I love the logo of the house and flowers etc, but I'd like to update the tan background. I'd like something easy on the eyes that is relaxing and peaceful...something that is a little happier.

 

I'm thinking about condensing some of the forums. I remember Gunplumber suggesting that a couple of years ago lol. I haven't gone through all the forums but things like Urban/Country Homesteading might be able to stay seperate but under a 'Homesteading' forum...make sense?

 

Some of the forums would stay stand-alones like RURR, Streams in the Desert, Sunporch, etc but I think it would be nice to condense the forums while potentially still keeping them seperate.

 

Anyway, the above is a couple of things that I've been thinking about for the last couple of weeks. I'll obviously have to get with Annarchy because she's our lifeline to doing things right in the programming area (ok, I confess...I did go into the control panel to see if I could figure out how to play with the forum colors but got too confused lolol).

 

Any thoughts?

One other area, is camping and bushcraft ( which is just very primitive camping without fancy gear, you bring in some food but may be hunting or snaring small game animals to get your meat, or fishing instead and making things like a cook system , a leanto or teepee set up or something like that, and making utensils and dishes out of down wood with a decent carving knife ) These are all handy things to know in case you get stuck with just a bob daypack and have to be out of normal circumstances due to extreme chaos or something or just hobby oriented skills for those of us who enjoy the outdoors or there just is no room in what you can carry to bring much. Or you forgot your matches or steel fire striker, etc and your batteries ran out... etc. Good emergency skills, and cookery for camp fire cooking. Label it Bushcraft ( Primitive skills) . ???? Otherwise the stuff gets buried in other forums.

There is Pioneer Living forum [sub forum to RURR] That's similar...some overlap. But not completely the same as primitive wildcraft.

I completely forgot we could change themes. I've always been partial to the tan background. I kind of like the elegia background (light blue)....it just doesn't have as much contrast with the words and the background for me. Don't like the mobile themes at all...I need it all laid out for me.

 

 

And NO PURPLE!!!!!

I was intending to reply to her suggestion for a place to talk about Off Topic stuff.....I was going to suggest Where The Heart Is might be a good place for kind of off topic stuff.....

lol not to worry...no orange or purple or wild colors. Just something soft and soothing but a bit happier.

 

It's interesting that Jeepers mentioned the Flu Clinic because I had the same thought yesterday. I think we made that forum originally when the bird flu was such a scare. We can definitely broaden it. I think we can flesh out other forums to be more inclusive also.

 

Thanks for sharing your thoughts though. It's good to know that they pretty much mirror mine

 

Note to self...make sure any colors we do keeps bandwidth low.

It's not the colors for bandwidth, Darlene. It's the an option I chose. Yes, please make sure the simplified option is still available for me and others. Ask Annarchy what that option is called.

 

It's a button to push... MtRider isn't good at remembering how to do buttons!

 

So I do not see the brown color....I always see blue and don't see half of some other embellishments. Like when you did different things for the holidays....I only get blue. But.....I CAN get on MrsS and that's what counts.

 

MtRider ....I'd actually forgotten the site is normally shades of brown.

I think a forum called "Book Shelf" would be wonderful Twilight :-) Could be a "go to place" for all online e-books etc. as well as links to other online books...ie: pams pride etc.

I like the brown. My window bars (I set them that way) are always blue or gray etc. to have a blue screen in front of me would be a bit much, but...whatever it is it will be :-) I also would like to see the forums combined into shorter titles. If a newbie (and sometimes me!) does a search for a particular subject, we have to remember exactly how that title was entered...make sense? Anyway...it would be kind of nice to just do a search for "MEDICAL" and find everything related to medical there...include fish supplies etc. Other titles? CANNING would contain all of the past topics related to canning. DEHYDRATING ditto. VACUUM SEALING ditto. HIKING ditto. FAMILY MATTERS ditto. PRAYER ditto. GARDENING...ditto. BUILDING...ditto. FARMING...ditto. LIVESTOCK...ditto. PUTTING FOOD BACK could be a place for all types of things we might want to look at from the how-to for beginners to the more advance planners. FINANCIAL could be a place for people to go look for things that are of an economical concern for them. I like "The Edge" being restricted access. I noticed there are several forums that haven't been visited for years (?) so perhaps they could be deleted? Just my opinion.

 

ps...it also appears that nobody messes with the "blogs" part so why is it taking up space? The "chat" ???
