YYY
Hi Everybody, Today I ran across a Mirro 12 Quart Pressure Cooker and Canner. Since it says "cooker" and "canner", will it do a good job of canning. Do any of you with experience with one of these have an opinion about it? (Positive or Negative) I have a Mirro pressure canner that I love, but I will be moving soon. My current canner is too tall to fit between the top of the store and the bottom of the wall mounted microwave. So-o-o I need advice. Do any of you know the height of the 12 quart cooker/canner? Please comment on anything I mentioned above. Thanks, YYY Quote Link to comment

Twilight
Canner for canning , cooker for cooking! Do not interchange! A cooker is for pressuring an old tough chicken, quick cooking dry beans(after they have soaked) and for recipes like these http://www.food.com/recipes/pressure-cooker A pressure canner is for canning food in jars/cans. Two very different uses. Quote Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
There are several listed on ebay, you could ask a seller to measure it for you. Quote Link to comment
Violet
If it will hold at least 4 qt. size jars it is safe for canning. If it only holds pints, then it will only be good for cooking., I think it will hold the qts. though. Presto has a 16 qt. that is shorter, too, and is a good canner. I would suggest NOT buying a new model of Mirro as they have been bought out and the handles have some sort of spring that keeps breaking. Also, Mirro is getting harder to find new gaskets for. Personally, I would get the Presto 16 qt. and use it instead. Quote Link to comment
