Kathleeen
So, I had stored up a few buckets of wheat. They became snack fests for Indian Meal Moths. I had sealed the buckets, but not with a vacuum sealer, and not in Mylar. It would seem the moths came with the wheat, and hatched in the buckets. So. How do you make sure the wheat you put up in Mylar doesn't hatch a wiggle worm farm on it's own? Does the vacuum sealing prevent that? Link to comment
nini2033a
I believe that is why people store it in the freezer for a week before closing it? Personally we do not store much in the way of grains since we 2/5s are gluten free and 2/5s are sugar sensitive/diabetic.We do lots of beans and rice though. I have not yet had a bug problem, I seal in mylar with oxygen absorbers, then in a bucket and then duct tape around the lid until it is opened for use. Link to comment

I understand that freezing temporarily slows down the hatching process but doesn't stop it. You seal in mylar with a vacuum sealer and 02 absorbers, I'm thinking the lack of oxygen may prevent hatching. Link to comment
