ANewMe
I tell you what....I'm so ready for the weekend to be OVER!!! I have been running all day trying to get things in order for the St. Patricks Day Parade tomorrow. I've never been in one before, but in order for my son to ride I had to ride. I have spent a FORTUNE (8 bags of produce and several bags of other kinds of food and toys to toss) only for there to be a 80-100% chance of storms and rain!!! I've been sick since Jan with upper-respiratory stuff and just getting well....everytime it rains I have problems with breathing so I'm not looking forward to tomorrow at all and the thought that I have wasted all of this money or a lot of it on a parade that may be rained out makes me sick. During my errands I get rear-ended by a very high-maintenance woman with a horrible attitude. I get out and she rolls her window down and says, "I ain't hit you!" Of course to you couldn't spit between our bumpers and it really wasn't enough to call the law....I didn't think....but should have. I started arguing with her...forgetting that my little girl was in the car until I saw her crawling to the back to watch. I just shut up and got in the car. She made me so mad!!! Then an hour later I get a call that my son has taken a very hard fall on concrete and they thought he could've cracked his arm so I rush back over to check on him. He is actually fine but it was a good scare for me. Does someone have some pixie dust or something to blow my way?? I just need to get through parade tomorrow and it to be over. I want to get excited about it but just can't seem to get into it! Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
This one looks like it might be spreading pixie dust. At least I smile whenever I see it. Hope the weather will be surprisingly clear and warm at least until your parade is over. I had 'one of THOSE days' yesterday but....the sun will come out tomorrow. Actually, it snowed today but I didn't do anything but rest so it was a GOOD day. Just think of how excited your son will be....and likely, that will be enough. MtRider Quote Link to comment

Daylily
Bless your heart! I hope it all goes well and you can relax and enjoy the parade with your son. Quote Link to comment
Deerslayer
Well, I hope the rest of the. weekend was better. I was WAY down south and it rained almost the whole weekend Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
It actually went better than expected!!! Son had a great time and so did I. Thankfully it stormed up until time to leave then did not pick back up until after we were done. Got very lucky. It's very bizarre to be pulled down a street with people on all sides asking...sometimes begging...for carrots, potatoes and cabbage.....LOL. In my very imaginative mind I had a sudden thought of a zombie outbreak taking place as we are being pulled through the masses of people. Either I need to stop watching Walking Dead or I need my head examined!!! At any rate....we threw everything we had and forgot to stash some to bring home. I may hit up the parade this next weekend near NOLA, but I may need to get with some of you ladies to find the best way to preserve what I get. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Glad it turned out fun.....and not storming. So....what IS this thing with throwing taters, and carrots and such? A southern thing? I've never heard of it. MtRider Quote Link to comment
Annarchy
Nice to hear things turned out well for you. lol.... walking dead.... ~shudder~ the commercials for that show gives me nightmares..... Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Mt. Rider....I had never heard of it either until last year, but I had also never been to Mardi Gras or St. Patty parades. They throw produce, trinkets and beads at St. Patty parades. Supposedly it was mainly produce and beads but after Katrina they said that people started throwing anything "useful". They still throw "green" things and "St. Patty" trinkets like cups and toys etc but people mainly come for the food. My son and I went through 8 bags of produce.....very large bags of produce. We also threw Ramen noodles, small boxes of cereal, sunflower seeds, candy, cookies and chips. The produce that was on the order form was cabbage, carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic, bananas, lemons, oranges, apples etc. There will be 2 more this coming weekend but I just don't know what I would do with all of it. Not cooking much with DH gone Quote Link to comment
