I can't move it and have spent the last 2 night crying/sleeping on the sofa.Typing with one hand stinks.I'm taking some leftover Vicodin so I can sty out of the ER. DH is taking me to the doctor tomorrow. I can't drive. Quote Link to comment

Jeepers
Hope it's "just" a strain or pulled muscle. Quote Link to comment
lumabean
I hope it's nothing complicated for the doctors to correct, and the pain passes soon for you Edited July 1, 2013 by lumabean Quote Link to comment
gofish
The doctor thinks it might be a pinched nerve in my neck or it might be viral myositis in my neck and shoulder. He also said something about a sudden onset of fibromyalgia but his number one thought is a pinched nerve. Hopefully the x-rays and blood test will give us some answers this afternoon. X-rays are in I have Calcific tendonitis that is a condition that causes the formation of a small, usually about 1-2 centimeter size, calcium deposit within the tendons of the rotator cuff. The calcium deposits are not always painful, and even when painful they will often spontaneously resolve after a period of 1-4 weeks. Edited July 1, 2013 by gofish Quote Link to comment
lumabean
hoping it's more toward the one week for you rather than 4. Did they give an idea of how they can be prevented in the future, so you don't have to endure this again? Quote Link to comment
Becca_Anne
Ouch! Hope they heal up fast. Quote Link to comment
gofish
Whoo hoo. As long as I don't move to fast my shoulder and arm is now just very stiff and achy. Before today any movement was extremely painful. I can now almost lift my arm up 4 inches. That's more than I've been able to move it in the last 4 days. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Ow, Gofish! I have personal experience with the P A I N of shoulders. So many nerves in there to complain LOUDLY! Glad you're already experiencing some relief. Can you keep your elbows tucked firmly to your sides and move only from there down to hands without triggering the pain? Even that much movement will allow you to do some things. Get a reacher thingie [long thing with pincers on the end] to help in getting things without reaching too far yourself. gofish
The doctor is shocked about how fast my arm movement is coming back. When I was in his office yesterday morning it was so bad that he thought it would take weeks to get better. It's still stiff and some movements are still painful but I think I'll be able to sleep in bed tonight instead of having to wedge my arm against the back of the sofa for support. I would rate the pain I was in right up there with major surgery and child birth. Quote Link to comment
Deb2of9
I hope you get back to normal soon. I will keep praying for you. Shoulder pain is bad because it is so hard to not move something that might make it hurt. Once it is healed I know that for bursitis, shoulder rotation exercises help to keep the shoulder less painful. Maybe it will help for you too. Quote Link to comment
