Darlene
I wanted to let everyone know what happened when MrsS went down the other day... I got a call from Annarchy that MrsS was down and when I began to look into it I found that the domain registration had expired. All the renewal notices had gone to an email addy that I rarely use anymore so I missed the notice. I called registration immediately, went ahead and paid for 2 years and they told me the site would be up in half an hour. Not too shabby. Well, 4 hours later the site was still down for me...the next morning it was still down so I called the registration people again who explained that the site had to 'propogate' around the world since the ip address number had been temporarily cut off. It was wierd how some people in the country had no problem getting in and yet others couldn't get in for a while. Regardless, I just wanted to let everyone know what had happened and hopefully this won't happen for another 2 years because we're paid up till then...sheesh. I apologize for the inconvenience and confusion this caused for everyone. Thankfully Annarchy is on the ball and knew very early on that something had happened and contacted me immediately. The WE2's
Me knew she'd be on the horn :-) Told MrWE2 ... Me not worried, Annarchy knows who to call :-) Quote Link to comment
Annarchy
Me the morning it happened ---------> .... it had to do with "the proxies having to propagate".... I was unable to connect to our forum using Century Link - Apple or PC or through every browser I have, I even re-set my modem several times. However, my Verizon wi-fi hot spot was able to connect within an half an hour after the problem was corrected. Century Link took 48 hours to propagate their system in Phoenix. Checking MrsSurvival on several web site checkers, indicated 20 large cities around the US, Dallas, Washington DC, Denver, etc. propagated their systems within the first hour, the rest took their own sweet time. Highly frustrating not being able to call all the internet providers and tell them to do it. Our hands were tied at that point, all we could do was wait, and wait, and wait... After an hour on the phone to various tech support people I know, I sat and stared at my computer for quite a while before deciding there was nothing more I could do. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
(((((((Annarchy))))))) For 3 days I was getting the message that the site had expired. I was afraid someone else would snatch it up! I ran it through the website 'down for everyone or just me' and it kept saying it was my computer that Mrs.S was fine. Thankfully I knew better because I wasn't having any problems with any other sites. I hope we didn't lose anyone who thought the site had closed down. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Until I talked to Darlene, I didn't even know there WAS a problem. Evidently I got lucky on location for this round. Glad to see ya all back! MtRider ...... Quote Link to comment
SueC
well around the world must have been a bit quicker! I had no problems at all. So it must have gone down while I was asleep and corrected by the time I got up. See living down under has some advantages! Quote Link to comment
Annarchy
LOL SueC. You are right. When I checked the international providers, most were up and working within the hour. Quote Link to comment
Simplegirl
It was weird for me. Centurylink which we use at work had it down for 2 days but my satellite internet provider at home got me in the same day. I definitely was somewhat confused. But just glad we are back! Quote Link to comment
Twilight
I got on yesterday for the first time! I did not know time had passed so quickly. I thought it was only last year that you paid two years!! Quote Link to comment
Suncat
Now that is funny.. I have centurylink too.. but every few hours I would connect and could see the page.. but no one else had posted that there was a problem.. and I'd think.. ok must be fixed.. but it'd be down again the next time I came through. (I have several sites that as I take breaks during the day I just go through the list so even when I thought it was down I'd click on it without thinking as part of the routine). Oh and I was mostly amused by the problem.. I saw that it said the domain name wasn't paid for and thought to myself.. hmmm sounds like something I'd do.. I'm sure they'll fix it asap. Daylily
I have Centurylink and the site was gone fro me for 3 days at least. The link would go to a site that said Network Solutions and said the site was up for renewal. I really missed it and I'm SO glad it's back! Quote Link to comment
