Jeepers
I'm so very sorry! I know that pain all to well. It hurts. She was so beautiful...lovely markings! I'm sure my Muffin was there to greet her and show her all of the great pee spots, until you see her again. As sad as you are, I'm sure she is having a wonderful time sniffing new butts, making new friends and running naked (no collar) in the endless fields of grass. Bless her. Quote Link to comment

The WE2's
Always such a sad topic. Both Mountain Man and I had to say goodbye to doggie loves before we met, and both said "no dogs". Then we somehow changed our minds. We went looking and a friend who volunteers as a "home finder" called us one day and said "I know a home shelter who had a momma lab dumped along with a male aussie, and guess what...they now have 9 puppies that need a home. Our response was "we'll think about it". Then 2 days later she called again and said "these puppies won't last long, they look all lab." So we said we'd go "look". We drove about 40 miles to the home shelter & when we got out here's all these fat fat little yellow, black & one chocolate puppies running around our feet playing. The fiesty little chocolate was mauling all the rest of them so I picked it up, turned it upside down, it was a little girl! We wanted a little girl. I pulled her ears, squeezed her feet, held her on her back, and all she did was "grunt" like the fat little bugger she was! I turned her to Mountain Man and said "does this look like an Abby to you?" He grinned and said "yeah, I think so". The lady grabbed a towel, wrapped her up & we took her home. Six weeks old. She turned two December 5, 2013 and instead of weighing 9# she now weighs 83# Just wanted to share our hearts with you...and I think you're beloved pet would want you to know the love of another pet. RebelDigger
So sorry. A friend of mine had to have her fur baby put to sleep yesterday and I sent her this poem I found online by an unknown auther. Hope it brings comfort. I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew... In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me. Author ~ Unknown Quote Link to comment

kappydell
Mary & I lost one of our fur babies 2 wks ago; she was 16 yrs old and a dear friend & companion to us both. I guess 16 is a good long time for 'just a dog' but just the same....The poem was very comforting. Thank you Midnight Mom. Edited May 3, 2014 by kappydell Quote Link to comment
