Momo
The new season began last night. I don't like it as well as "Who Do You Think You Are?" but it is still good. They also do genetic testing that shows what heritages are in your gene pool. Like 49% European etc. Quote Link to comment
kappydell
Those geneology shows got me interested in some personal research. Interersting....one set of great-great-greats came from England, the others from Canada. Plus I love those old timey names...I have a "Moses" in my past, and a Genevieve. Not common names anymore, that is for sure! Quote Link to comment

Daylily
I watched several episodes of "Finding Your Roots" online. We don't have TV. I enjoyed them. I would love to have them fin my roots! I've gone way back on certain sides but would love to know it all and have the dna testing. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
I'd like to have the DNA test done too but it's waaaay too expensive for me. If I'm not mistaken, and I could very well be, the DNA only traces your mother's side. Something about mitochondria something something. Don't quote me on that though. Quote Link to comment
Daylily
I think I heard that too. DD1 is going to have it done. Her doctor wants to see if she has a certain gene for some kind of heart defect. It's $99 for the test I think that tells you all kinds of things that her doctor will interpret plus her ancestry through me I guess. So I will learn something from it! Quote Link to comment

How much? $99 for only the mother's side. I wonder how accurate it is. After all, we have mapped the genome but we have hardly mapped all known variants. Jeepers
Oh gees, the last time I looked it was about $250.00. That was a few years back though. Probably when they first started offering it. Quote Link to comment
Momo
They had a new episode last night with Larry David and Bernie Sanders. They both had similar backgrounds with Polish/German Jewish backgrounds. It was very interesting historically. At the very end they found out they were related through their DNA tests. Kind of ironic since David has played Bernie on SNL. Quote Link to comment

But the Antifa will never confront him about it... Quote Link to comment
Momo
Vic that was pretty good. A liberal yankee having slave owner relatives who served in the confederacy. This weeks episode was pretty good too. Carly SImon turned out to be about 10% African American. Fred Armisted (sp?) thought he was part Japanese, but he was actually part Korean from a very prominent family. They traced his family back to 69 BC. WOW. 1 Quote Link to comment
