  1. No Diabetic complications, nothing changed with eye pressure. New prescription for bifocals.
  2. Glad your exam came out good. How about the rest of you who were going in? go tomorrow. Medicare and my supplement cover the Diabetic eye exam and field vision tests. I have readers that I use more and more. You know the look over the top of them to see far away kind of thing.
  3. Cat, I hope all went well with your husband's hip replacement. Loved hearing about your daughter's kind and truly helpful way of helping Alene. All of the children will benefit seeing that positive model.
  4. My son has been gluten free for a couple of years, is on a limited budget so cooks from scratch. He is the gravy-maker in the household. Last year he thickened the gravy with cornstarch - tasty but veeeey thin. This year he found King Arthur gluten free flour and the gravy was great. He does very little bread- uses mostly rice or quinoa. He did find a gluten free bread at a Franz bread outlet that he says is the best he's had but pricey even with the discount. I hope it all works well for you.
  5. So glad all is turning out well with "the pack" and the handsome new pup has a good home. Uffda for the vet bill is right! That was really nice of them to allow you to pay over time. We recently had to bring two older cats to the vet and what they charge nowadays is a shock. Still glad the "old girls" will be with us longer.
  6. Shopping - 1 hr. Cleaning- 1 hr. Walking 3 hours Total of 5 for the week.
  7. Thank you. It was a good day with family and friends.
  8. Something I've noticed - years ago my kids had the paper route in this neighborhood. Weekdays, rain or shine. In the past 12 years we've had paper carrier after paper carrier. The section we are in is on a hill with no sidewalks and the majority of the time whoever the current paper carrier is driven around by their parents. More recently the carriers are adults apparently needing the income.
  9. Our paper is still the 5 weekdays but they're using narrower paper and I think smaller print. I have to put my reading glasses on to read the darn thing.
  10. A friend told me today about a store that sets out boxes of their merchandise that is about to go bad. She has gotten 50 lb. bags of potatoes, onions and a case of fresh mushrooms. I had to go out today so stopped by this place. There was one box with four eggplant in it. One was definitely gone so that went in my compost. Now to look up recipes using eggplant. Also made the SOS Mix recipe Trudy posted the link to.
