If we could only get these to come "back in style"... LOTS cheaper than sunscreen!!!!

In style or not...I'm so sick of getting a sun burn in the parts of my hair. I have a doosie right now and it hurts so bad! My dd is 3 1/2 and should wear these too...she is blonde and fair skinned. We slather her with sunscreen but with her long hair it's hard to do her scalp and she doesn't like ball caps. I can't wear ball caps either, they are too tight and make my head sweat.
I'm going to try to sew up a few of these today as I think I have some old dress shirts I could cut them out of.

Thanks!

Lori

bonnet information, worth the read about loss of hearing wearing one... see below as well as materials used to make a bonnet.

http://www.kannikskorner.com/infobonnets.htm

A SPECIAL BONNET SAFETY NOTE:
Bonnets distort the wearer's hearing!
It is very, very important to know and remember this, both for yourself, your children, and for others wearing a bonnet! Sounds may seem to come from behind you, when they are your own footsteps, or you may not be able to tell where a sound is coming from - such as a vehicle (be it automobile, or horse drawn carriage). This can put the wearer in danger! Be sure to teach your girls to remove their bonnet if they are crossing a street or if they are in a very busy place, especially with large animals. If you loan your bonnet to someone, be sure to loan it with a warning!

Sweatshirt into a jacket

Transform a Sweatshirt into a Jacket or Cardigan!
An easy, no-sew sewing project!

Measure to the middle of the front of the sweatshirt (on the neck band and at the bottom band).

Draw a line with a tailor's marker from bottom to top, and then cut up that line to make the opening in the front.

Fold over the (new) ragged, cut edges 1/2 inch on each side, and glue them down to the "body" with Aleen's "O.K. To Wash It" fabric glue.

Wait a couple of days for it to "cure" and then apply your appliques and decorations on the rest of the newly created "cardigan".

I found that a sweatshirt a size larger than you'd normally wear as a shirt works the best for cardigans. This proved to be a really fun and easy project for me. Hope it is for you too!

Broomstick skirts are popular again and so easy to make.

http://www.ericas.com/projects/proj9801.htm

I really like these for traveling, if they get wrinkled.. so what!

Comfortable and easy to make.

You can make them as long as you would like and if you quilt, this can
be quite fun making a quilted broomstick skirt!

And to complete that summer look you need a peasant blouse!

http://www.sewing.org/enthusiast/html/efs_...ant_blouse.html

If made from light weight cotton it is perfect for the heat of the summer.

If you click on the printer friendly option you can actually print out a full size pattern. No adjustments required.

*thinking about how to line them with flannel or something*
from bondage to spiritual faith.
from spiritual faith to great courage.
from great courage to liberty.
from liberty to abundance.
from abundance to selfishness.
from selfishness to complacency.
from complacency to apathy.
from apathy to moral decay.
from moral decay to dependence.
from dependence to bondage.
