When I see a picture online that I want to save, I just right-click, choose "Save picture as...", and choose the place I want it to be and the format (I prefer JPG), and *VOILA*... it's done.

Well I rushed off to try this but my laptop doesn't have a Prt Scr or print screen button. Really... it doesn't! Even after I put my reading glasses on it still doesn't! Is there a another way to do this?

Granny, I checked my DH's Dell laptop. I don't know what yours is, but his has it written on the same button as his "Insert" button (in blue). And THAT'S located way down on the *bottom*!!!

Hey! It worked. Cool. Thanx Cat.

I saved to WordPad instead of Paint-but mine was text. Will have to try Paint with a pic.

My "PrtSc" button is just to the right of the F12 button at the TOP of my keyboard. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. (I have two buttons that say "Ins"-first button to the right of my spacebar and one also in small letters on the 'M' key.)

here is a hint that might help?
Are you having trouble remembering what steps to do for this? well just go to cats post and highlite the part that you want and then hit print (in file) and select (all - this page - select) and print it out. then when you find what you want to copy, you will have the steps right there in front of you.
Good Luck !

Handy tip 2

Get fire fox instead of internet explorer.

Save page as, saves the folder with all pics from a site seperatly to the html page.

you can do that with internet explorer, you have have to make the site availible offline. ypou get that option automatically when you add it to your favorites.

also, when i want to get a pic that i cant "save picture as" i press ctrl+alt+print screen then paste into adobe photoshop.

As a web designer I have to bark here...

When the right click feature is disabled when you view a website, it's because the designer or site owner wants to protect the copyright on his/her pictures. They don't want you to be able to save them, because they own them, or own the rights to use them.

Often, if you can't right click to save the pic, you also can't right click to view the source code, which the designer and/or owner of the site also owns.

For you folks, you're saving the pics cause you like them, or for reference purposes, but people do steal pics and source code and market them as their own, which is why sites will do that if they feel there is some value.

Note MommyofSeven's caution above... we do *NOT* steal others' stuff!

That said, you can use this method to print things out *for your OWN personal use*. And yes, it takes expensive ink. Try setting your printer settings to "fast draft". It uses less ink but is still legible.

Cookbooks, gardening, etc... if you're worried about having that info at hand without needing an electronic device.
