I have a pile of metal pool fencing laying in the yard. It also has a metal panels for the deck but I havn't managed to rip that out yet. How do I know what kind of metal the fencing is? It hasn't rusted (but the bolts all have) and it is pretty lightwieght. I have a person that will pick up scrap (our truck is in the garage with a brake failure so I can't haul it and I want it out of here so the kids dont get hurt - it has sharp corners and they are fast on their little feet - I am not fast on my big feet so they WILL beat me to the dangers in the yard) but the person will want to know what kind of scrap it is. There probably isn't that much in total wieght either. But there are lots of sharp edges!
By the way - a tool that everyone needs for their BOL - a big crowbar! Great thing!
how do you tell what kind of metal it is?

There's going to be an entire above ground pool in chunks when I'm done with it. 
(We're keeping the plywood from it) I just don't have a way to haul it since the truck and my husband had their encounter. He stomped the brakes to see if the repair had worked on the back brakes and the front line blew off. At least the original repair worked. And the truck is in the garage that has the snakes in it. Eeeewwwww.
Whats funny...I had the pool given away and we could have kept the wood but hubby wanted what he thought were big metal panels when in reality they are about 6 inch by 24 inch metal planks that aren't held together like a panel at all. Just loose planks stuck in a frame. They did look like nice big panels of metal worthy of building something. Fooled us. But its been a great stress buster! Crowbars are nice! LOL

Is there sand under the pool?...Maybe it would be a good spot for carrots and potatoes?????

I'm guessing the metal is aluminum. And copper and aluminum are VERY sought-after right now... you'll get good money (compared to former years) for any scrap right now. (People are actually ripping aluminum siding off of houses to sell for scrap!)
The "cleaner" it is, the better the price. A few nuts and bolts may be ok, but attached to wood, plastic, etc. will bring a lower price.
Call a few recycling places for prices, as they can vary. It may be worth your while to drive it to sell.
NOTE: Don't send your aluminum cans out with the recyclable trash if you can save them, smash them, and sell them yourself! They're giving GOOD MONEY for those!!!
