We got busy and didn't get our apple tree pruned last fall. Spring is just around the corner here, and there are leaf buds on the tree, but no actual leaves yet...
is it too late to prune? It's mostly the huge number of suckers that I'm looking at. Will we hurt our crop if we do it now?

If it's just suckers you want to take off, I would. They will sap the strength you want in the rest of the tree. I prune all the time. (As long as you stay away from the bud areas you want.)
