I did a bit of googling and came up with these...
Interesting site for all treadle machines:
http://www.treadleon...ingmachineshop/
This site indicates the 15/1 needle for the 66:
http://www.sewingmac.../singer-66.html
This site carries the 15/1 needle:

I once had an old Rotary White (electric) that I thought I still had needles for, but not sure if they're the same kind.
I also googled just the 15/1 needle and came up with quite a few sites.
Good luck!

Thanks. You're the best. No wonder we're friends. But with work when did you have time to do the search?
Ahhh...'tis a good thing to get off work at 3:30!

also check to see if the 'eye' of the needle needs to be straight through or from side to side?

The needle eye on a Singer 66 needs to be oriented side to side, the flat side of the top of the needle faces your right, you thread it from the left to the right. I use a needle threader cause I am not good with doing it with my left hand.

OOOPS!
Was in a big rush to get out of the house when I posted. Later in the day we were working at a Amish Home when I remembered AND as we all know none of them have computers. LOL
Was going to come back in to tell about the 'flat side' I left out and here you did it for me (without 'needling' me LOL)
