I wasn't sure where to post this but...I have a Singer Model 66T treadle machine and I want to buy needles for it. Does anyone know where I can get them? Also, what size does the machine take? Thanks in advance.

Hi LindaLou,

I did a bit of googling and came up with these...

Interesting site for all treadle machines:
http://www.treadleon...ingmachineshop/

This site indicates the 15/1 needle for the 66:
http://www.sewingmac.../singer-66.html

This site carries the 15/1 needle:
http://www.ctsusa.co...px?pf_id=21HOME

I once had an old Rotary White (electric) that I thought I still had needles for, but not sure if they're the same kind.
I also googled just the 15/1 needle and came up with quite a few sites.

Good luck!

Thanks. You're the best. No wonder we're friends. But with work when did you have time to do the search? smile.gif

Ahhh...'tis a good thing to get off work at 3:30! :happy0203: (It's the getting there by 7:00 a.m. that takes a little more 'git 'er done' time!) I love a good challenge!

For anyone who has treadle sewing machines I found out...and I tried it out too...that you can use modern universal needles in your treadle machine. I used a Schmetz 80 in the treadle and it sewed fine. If you use modern needles though make sure they are the same length as your original treadle needles and hand crank several stitches to make sure the needles doesn't hit the presser foot or get hung up in the bobbin.

Treadle on.

My treadle is a 66 as well. Buy regular Singer needles like you can get in Wal-Mart, Hancocks or Joann's, no need to special order on the internet and pay shipping. (I'm cheap about paying shipping on stuff I can get in town LOL). Bobbins are the metal kind, the plastic ones won't work--no matter what it says on the package.

also check to see if the 'eye' of the needle needs to be straight through or from side to side?
and as posted the height of the needle is VERY inportant push it all the way up into the housing.

good luck.

The needle eye on a Singer 66 needs to be oriented side to side, the flat side of the top of the needle faces your right, you thread it from the left to the right. I use a needle threader cause I am not good with doing it with my left hand.

OOOPS!
Was in a big rush to get out of the house when I posted. Later in the day we were working at a Amish Home when I remembered AND as we all know none of them have computers. LOL

Was going to come back in to tell about the 'flat side' I left out and here you did it for me (without 'needling' me LOL)
