You know you are a homesteader when:

I opened the door to the refrigerator and saw MORE 'canning' jars then 'store bought' jar on the shelves.

We had laundry hanging out on the line, and it looked like it might rain but left them out anyway.

All I wanted to do is get outside and work getting the gardens ready for planting

Did the house chores and all I used was a (non-electric) Old Bissell sweeper, a broom, and cleaning rags with homemade cleaning spray. * By the way I have trouble with the sweeper as the cat likes to chase it around the room while I push it back abd forth.

In the Kitchen I had homemade noodles 'drying' on the table, Homemade bread (4) cooling on the rack, Dishes (washed by hand) drying in the rack by the sink , food cooling in oven for this week’s meals (chicken, Turkey pot pie, stew meat, Baking potatoes) and I was making butter all at the same time.

sounds like you have it all down!!! while, I prefer the washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, and my wonderful steam mop--i feel the same way, as i look around outside and see (in my head) where all the plants and trees are going to provide us with almost all our food for a year--hopefully we will be there by next summer--still have more cleanup to do--in the meantime--the garden is almost ready, the fruit trees are blooming, and i planted a ton of blue berries, black berries, raspberries, and grapes--the strawberry bed is in, the asparagus is in, potatoes and onion and garlic all look great!!!

I was just looking out the window and watching all FOURTEEN goats mowing the lawn! LOL I only wanted one for milk. How'd I end up with FOURTEEN? Then there are the hens showing the chicks how to find bugs and the clucky ducks setting on their nests and the geese busy trying to hatch more goslings. Is it any wonder I'd rather be outside than in?

.................. There you go-
That’s what I mean, why have all that stuff like TV, cell phones, IPod (whatever that is?) when you can do, see and work all that good stuff instead.

AND I just remembered............................
I am BAD! Today as this is Tuesday and Lori is working all day so I am home alone (with the cats) and we are "pioneering it' today.
So WHY am I on This thing? I forgot when I was reading and thought to check the weather and before I knew it here i am. BAD MICHAEL!

anyway seeing I am here:
making bread (4) reading by lamp light (well until the sun came up), Took a 'Pioneer Bath' 3 inches of water in bathtub - tin cup to wash hair. Yes I was too lazy to drag out the old bathtub and set it up on bathroom floor. Also working on planting charts AGAIN, and also 'planted' more seeds in the trays to sprout before going out into the greenhouse. "Camping' on the floor in the Pioneer Room. Also doing some house chores as it is Tuesday ya know. LOL

Have a nice day from here in '1881' at the homestead to where you are out there.

You're not just a prepper you're Aldo green! Congrats. Closest I got was doing laundry by hand.

OK maybe it is because it is 2:30 am and I am up for the night (had my 3 hour 'nap')? but what the heck is Aldo green? :shrug:

maybe he meant "also" green? As in, not only a prepper, but good for the environment too! :thumbs:

I hope so because when I "googled" aldo green lots of weird stuff came up
and there is no way I am wearing an Aldo Green Dress? :knary:
Or am I a fan of Aldo Green whoever he is? :shrug:

I feel so totally inadequate now, reading all your posts.... sigh.

So, if/when you aren't up to working hard, what do you do while you're not working hard? I knit when I'm watching the tube, divvy up snacks into serving portions using my trusty scale, sometimes sharpen/clean my tools... but with this heat, it's just so hard to get going...

Don't feel so bad, Paradox. I've spent the past couple of days reading your stories. Believe me when I say that very little work has happened in my house!

You might be a prepper if you rarely qualify for the express checkout lane. (Unless a case qualifies as a single item.)
