The Paige fire is about 20 miles from me. Downwind at the moment. Winds are high again today 20-30mph with gusts that about knock me off my feet.

Please take care! Heard about the fires on GMA,this a.m. Also, about the mother and 18 month old daughter who died in their trailer (couldn't get out of the trailer in time). Wish there was a way to spread all this water around.

CGA- I will be praying for the fire to stay away from you and daughter. My BIL just lost place at Possum Kingdom. The pictures show vast amount of devastation there. They could finally get in yeasterday. Still praying for rain. Yesterday was great with temps in mid 80's. High winds though, and we all (Texas) need much desired rain. Our lakes are really getting low.

Oh please CGA, let us know if your and your DD are allright. This is worrying.
She looked at the wolf with a sweet smile . The wolf asked what was in her basket. `Food for Grandmother`she said..
She then opened her basket and took out a sawn off shotgun.
A few days later she walked through the woods in her new wolfskin furcoat...

Lesson learned, so not mess with girls who are brave enough to go into the woods on their own.

I'll be praying for you, too! Do you have a way out for you and your daughter, CGA? (I think I remember you saying that you don't drive anymore!)

I came here this morning specifically to see if this was near you, CGA. So sorry to hear that it is but I'm already praying for you and daughter and for God to place His protection around your land and your animals. You, of course, :tapfoot: will get the heck outta there with daughter (and anything and any critter) possible if given an opportunity to do so .....if that wind shifts and threatens you. 20 miles is significant but....our infamous fire traveled that distance in a frighteninly short period of time.

I repeat Martian's question: Do you have someone on standby that can get you and yours OUT? They lined up volunteers with horse trailers, etc in our county when the evac was enacted. You git on the bus, y'hear. :hug3:

OK Lord, I'm about to start really fretting and when that happens, the only thing I know to do is to start praying. It works; fretting doesn't! So we're going to be gathered on this thread till we hear the all clear from CGA. We know she's praying too and we're going to just join in whatever she needs moment to moment as this terrible drought/fire situation develops. Please bring this thing to an end. Let that wind-producing hurricane throw some moisture or .....well, YOU are God. Your plans are going to be better and wiser than any of ours. We certainly don't mean to pray the fire into someone else's lap. So we just ask for protection and mercy for ALL the folks dealing with the fire...folks in the path, those making decisions about fighting it, and those actually frontline in the battle.
In Jesus we pray,
MtRider :grouphug:

That is so frightening. I'm very concerned for your safety. I'm so glad you are downwind right now. Keep us updated on how you are doing and if it gets closer to you. I'm praying for you and your dear daughter!

When I saw the headline on the news you were the first one I thought of! I have been praying for your safety and for rain for the whole State!

Thank you! Prayers are much needed and appreciated! We are still upwind of the fire but I have some friends that are right in the path and on voluntary evac order that haven't left yet. I'm trying to persuade them to get out now and offered my pasture for animals and spare room for them. They are hoping to stay put. Please pray for Lisa and Sean and all the others in the path.

They said 476 homes have been lost and the fire is up to 25k acres. It was 10k yesterday.

We can ride out with a couple of neighbors, but no room for animals. I'd have to cut fences on both sides and hope for the best.

I think if the wind changed it would blow the fire back into burned over areas and that might help a lot. It is uncontained and aggressive and moving fast.

Thank you. My sister is closer than I am to the fires. Please pray for her and her family too. Her name is Gina. Thanks.

Back home again tonite. Been praying for you all day, gal! Now my mom is praying for you as well.

You are right about the area that has burned being a protection for you if the wind shifts. 25K is a huge fire-break! So depending on just how the 'lay of the land' and the burned area is situated, you may well be protected.

OTOH, keep a sharp eye out cuz the winds that y'all are describing [on TV too] could send embers from the burned area backwards. Got to be a lot of char and charcoal still alight there.

Lord, we pray continuously for CGA, DD, her sister Gina and that family, friends Sean and Lisa. Give them the wisdom to know that wildfire is not like staying thru a hurricane. Severe wild fire burns EVERYthing....and moves very quickly. God I pray for the animals that CGA relies on for her and DD to live. Move in special ways for a better solution for them if it becomes necessary to move them out. I know the "cut the fences" plan. It's one of my plans too but...we'd rather YOU have something safer in mind. Our critters are just kinda dumb and we'd always like to care for them.

In general we pray again for everyone else involved this fire. Protect those that fight it. The heat must be nearly unbearable. Give them a clear mind so that they are making good choices as they do their jobs.

Praise the Lord, the winds have died down! Still a massive fire, but maybe more hope for containment now. We are starting to get a lot of smoke though.
