DH planted 150+ onion sets in one bed.  Began 4 potato towers.  Now it's dripping snow so that's moisture.  Not sure we'll do anything other than onions/taters.  Cannot beat the varmints eating them from under soil and deer/elk eating them above.  :yar:  To say nothing of keeping moisture in the drought.

6 duckies doing fine and DH is doing 90% of their care this time.

Getting dog reintroduced to THUNDER!  First of the season and she forgot what it was.  We had it at Darlene's when she was lil' pup.  Today she kept barking and I'd come out and she didn't have anything to show me.  I go back in and ...barking again.  After 3X, I brought her in.  Finally it was close enough for me to hear it and I knew what she was going on about.  :)  She doesn't seem afraid but .....it sure NEEDS to be barked at!  It's growling at her!  Hmph!

I'm sure!  LOL  When Abby was a "little" puppy, and it would start to storm etc., MM would take her out in it and play with her and give her treats.  She's not a bit fearfull of them, and enjoys her game of "grab the towel" when she's getting herself rubbed dry by MM when they come in.  BUT...we have noticed she doesn't "need" to go out as often when it's raining etc.! LOL

This week I've been predominantly doing a Spring Clean, and decluttering which is going really well.

I recieved the nurses watch and it's working out well, I no longer have to worry when cleaning with water or washing up to take it off

We so rarely (as in every couple of years) hear thunder out here that when we do, the dogs turn to jello and :behindsofa:

Got some new accessories for my self defense item thanks to a gift certificate.

Added some brown sugar, cans of tomatoes, and pumpkin to the pantry. Also added some disposable eating utensils and paper plates.

Made an annual run through Sam's Club.  Glad it's only once a year! Stocked up on additional spices, more beans, more rice, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, more paper towels & more toilet paper.  Also stocked up on printer ink cartridges. Made a pit stop at Cabela's and ordered 8 more dehydrator trays along with jerky mesh & fruit leather trays.  That should stack my big dehydrator to 13 trays. Also stocked up on some additional "home defense" ammo etc at Bass Pro.

Helped move some of DH's stuff to a new office space.  While he sorted out what's what inside, I stayed in the back of truck to sort the tote boxes and his GetHomeBag.  Now the large tote is for Winter Emergencies....and can be taken out in a few weeks.  [Yes, we can still get cold and snow]

A smaller one is for vehicle emergencies.  This includes a sleeping bag.  We put a twin airbed under his shelf in office.  Mountain road conditions sometimes close his reasonable route home.  Easier for him to sleep there than to take a VERY much longer detour.  He's got the necessary sleeping bag in the smaller tote.  Also rain gear cuz we can get gully washer.....no, actually we get ravine makers!  :o  Flash floods and all.

Then I sorted thru his GHB to find those things that need refreshing and rethink the weight.  I have to sort thru the Mini-E.kit within the GHB.  As in:  If you have to drastically lighten the load, wear this hip pack and drop the rest.

We both kept busy and got a lot done.  Cuz I've been meaning to do that anyway.  I even LABELED the totes with a list of contents.  :bounce:  Cuz we're old and can't remember nuthin' anymore.

Ordered a mini rocket jet burner stove that uses propane or the can that is mixed, it just screws on it says. Works fast? I will try it out when I get it if my propane canisters fit it.

Ordered my adjustable dressform. I am a long way from doing sewing like Westie was but it should really help me both with sewing and designing my own sweaters to knit.  Consistent working with it and material, my skills will advance further and might be a way to make money some day. My son sent me a gift card and it was enough for those and some swim suit material, because like my cargo shorts I still have not found again, my bathing suit is also missing and I have a pattern!

Going to have to do a major search for those!

Found allen wrench key and toned down strength resistance on treadmill for better walking, it was like climbing a mountain before ! yikes!

Still trying to figure out what to do with 2 bags of grapefruits that were given to me...take on the job of juicing them in my "little" bullet, dehydrate them, or slice them up and freeze them.  Gotta do something today though because "as usual" when people give stuff to me it's because it's only a few days from not being useable.

PS...I think I'll just make it short and sweet and slice them and freeze them.  Then if I want, I'll dehydrate or juice them later.  Funny, answered my own question! :laughkick:

Sorted thru livestock feed sacks that have been piling up ...scattered around.  The woven plastic ones I fold and store flat.  The non-woven [waterproof] ones I am washing out and storing when dried.  These could be used for sand bags....or for packing.  We use the paper ones for rubbish [non-garbage].

Duckies growing fast.  Spending days outside in a durable pen.  Nights in garage.  Cuts down on clean up but I have to keep an eye for predators.

So far I've been eating a couple of the slices with my breakfast!  They're so pink and sweet!  I don't think they'll ever make it to the dehydrator or juicer...LOL

Worked in the garden pretty much all day; put a diverter on the water spiket and installed about a 100' of soaker hose along with a timer so when we're away the garden will be watered..."self-sustaining" somewhat.  Put the other two "hoops" over two squares and we'll have to put more on the rest.  Also will need to build "cages" for my berry bushes so we can put the netting over them.

Got 9 pounds of rat and mic bar bait. Took some to the barn. Hopefully it will get rid of those squirrels that have been raiding the corn.

Been leaving the 4 goslings outside in the pen the last few warm, dry nights and they are doing well. They are really too big for the tote at night any more. Had to set up the chick brooder again. One of the bantams hatched 9 and I got 7 in the brooder. She's happy with two. Have another gosling in a brooder. She got stepped on, probably by a goat. She is slowly improving but wants to go out with the others. Can't walk yet though. She's extra work of course.

We had a 10% off coupon for a local hardware store.   Using that, we bought a couple cast iron skillets.

I should have thought ahead and bought these a few months ago when the weather was better for running the oven.

More spring cleaning this week and first donation to charity. It's going pretty well but I haven't got rid of as much as I would like, so once the house is complete I'm going to go back to my room and do more in there.

I received a copy of 'The Tales of the Green Valley' which is about a group of archaeologists living a year on a farm where they have to follow the times of 1620 from what they eat, wear, grow etc.

I hope it's OK to put the link into the You Tube version of it:
