I picked this book up at the library and it is a nice book. I wouldn't buy it only because I already know most of the stuff in it but it is a good beginnner book. It is easy to read because many of the pages are divided into two columns. Also, the pictures are very well done. It's really a pretty book and a good read.

I'd recomend picking it up if you are at the library or need a good beginner book about putting preserving food.

I think I've changed my mind...I'm going to put this on my wish list at Amazon. In fact, I’m driving by Barns and Noble today and if they have it I’m going to pick it up. The more I read it the more I like it. He has a lot of useful hints scattered throughout the book.

One was about his father making homemade cherry wine. During fermentation he left the pits in to give it more cherry flavor. When the wine was done he took it to the local university and had it analyzed. It was full of poison from the cherry pits! He said what kind but I forget what it was, cyanide I think.

He also gave instructions on how to make your own dried instant potatoes. I'll put that in the Preserving The Harvest forum later. I’m in a rush right now but will do it later today.
