I hope I am posting this stuff in the right area ?

B&S are using a lot of china made engines that are used on Ariens and some Toro snow blowers 4 cycle type. Used on the 2 stage and single stage blowers. Also some have just a generic China made engine. They are all copying the Honda engine now. Just no where at all close to a Honda.

One thing after another with these engines. On the 2 stage blowers we are finding the bolt for the oil drain has the face machined at an angle. So you start getting an oil leak there. Also the screw on the carb. bowl is machined at an angle so gas starts leaking or at the least allows fumes to escape.

I will get the Toro single stage recall numbers tomorrow. They have a recall due to the upper fuel line melting from the ethanol gas. There first response was to do a carb. kit. Had to wait 5 months for them to have that kit in stock. Now we have to replace the upper fuel line and carb.

The more years I am in this line of work the cheaper I have seen equipment being built.

That's a real shame! I remember when B&S was American and top of the line and the standard on every lawn mower. When people needed a new mower they would remove the motor and keep it for something else like a neighbors mower. Most garages had an extra B&S motor laying around because they usually outlasted the chassie. Guess I'm showing my age now.

Gees, is everything made in China now? :gaah:
Blessed are the cracked ~ for they shall let in the light.

LOL. Yeah I know. One of the other techs. has an old 1985 snapper mower that the engine finally went on. The other tech. brought in a unused 1985 Tecumseh engine for it still in wrap he had laying around.
