You can freeze the raisins if you want to keep them fresh. That or use an 02 absorber as well. Vacuum seal is just fine, too.

I bought some Ghiradelli chips on sale a couple weeks back to stock up. As I was moving the previous supply to the front I saw they shrunk that too. IS NOTHING SACRED?! :sad-smiley-012:

Too bad I can't get THAT in bulk. Well, I can get their brownie mix in bulk at Costco at least.

I can sympathize on the clothing, though. I dropped some weight and, as it looks like it's staying off, I'm trying to replace clothes that have worn out. Finding decent stuff under $100 is tough now.

@Hazelstone - look at JC Penney. Their new sales.policy that started last month is really good. I picked up 2 jackets, a sweat shirt, a fleece shirt and a pair of sweatpants for $5 yesterday on the best deal rack (would've been over $120) . DD got a pair of $60 boots for $5.

Cost is why I shop at the thrift stores for clothes. That and a couple mail order places seem to be cheaper. I have used Blair for tshirts. Some are good, other either stretch out of shape or they pill up.

I used to sew my clothes, but the fabric costs too much now. Cheaper at the thrift stores.

Khols also has good clearance prices.

If you seriously want the best deal in the store on toilet paper, paper towels, etc, carry a few over to the produce aisle and weigh them. Then divide the price by the ounces.

Around here, Clorox bleach and non-brand bleach has gotten so high, I just can't believe. Today it is in an ad for $2.75 and that's not even a gallon.

I started to pick up some Campbell's pork and beans yesterday on sale 2/$1. When I picked up the can it felt strange. I looked at the size and it was only 11oz. I hope not all the canned goods are going to shrink like that. :sad-smiley-012:

You would've noticed when you picked it up. It was quit a bit narrower. It was the same height and in a special display, so I didn't notice it was smaller until I picked it up. I checked the regular section and the ones there were visibly smaller compared to the others.

Bought 2 Gatorade the other day, my flavor and DH's flavor. One was a redesigned bottle, 28 oz, while the old bottle was 32. Both cost the same.

Another one I really want to test out is our drinking water. The company has redesigned their bottles also. The older ones do not have handles or depressions around the handles and are flat on the bottom, however, the new bottles are the same diameter and height, have more ridges, large depression in the bottom and around the handle. I am guessing instead of 5 gallons of water we are only getting 4 for the same price.

Do the manufacturers really think we will not notice?

Someone slap me, my first thought was 'forced diet', forcing us to have smaller portions, hence, the healthy ad on tv... 'see what soup can do for you....'

You might be on to a new marketing ad/diet fad - the soup can diet. Just buy everything in the new soup sized cans and automatically your portions and calories are cut by 25% (However your grocery bill will increase 25% to offset the cost of our new scheme). :008Laughing:

Costco or Sam's has bittersweet chips. I'll check when I run in and let you know.

Thanks for the thought, Jori. Different Costco stores do sometimes vary in their product mix. The nearer Costco to us has some things different from the Costco up the road. Supposedly the managers have some discretion in what they carry. If they have the bittersweet chips in other locations but not here, I know to at least start bugging the managers. :P

A Wegman's is coming in soon, though. That store can be very, very dangerous to the pocketbook- but a lot of their inner aisles are very reasonably priced. It also is not shrink-rayed yet! So if you can resist all the wonderful wonderful stuff on the periphery, you're usually spending less than you would at the more "mainstream" chains.

Ivory bar soap has shrunk. I would venture to say the new bars are 2/3 the size of the old ones. I could only get 3 packs. When I asked about it, they ran a scan and found out the warehouse can't get it currently.

I needed some masking tape for dd's roller coaster project tomorrow and found 2 kinds at Dollar Tree. One brand had 50 feet, the other 40. Posted Image

Puffs tissues (travel packs)

There's still 12 tissues per pack, but the size of the tissue went from 8.4 inches X 8.2 inches to 8in X 8 in.
