Thanks! I've read Deep Winter but not the other two. The price on Kindle is good!

I'll have to check out We Hold These Truths, too.

I found my list. Would it be ok if I just typed in the list then you could see if it is available at library, Amazon, or B&N?

Here is my consolidated list of survivalist fiction.....some I have read and some I have not read. You can get most to all of these in ebook format. Some may be offered on Kindle and not on Nook so be sure to check Amazon, B&N as well as Smashwords to see which is the best deal.

1) Desperate Times by Nicholas Antinozzi. This is a 3 book series and just came out in paperback at Amazon. You can get all three books at Amazon and Smashwords. One of the books was free at one time. The author also wrote some small stories giving background on individual characters and these can be found at Smashwords for free. This has been one of my FAVORITE trilogies.

2) Jakarta Pandemic by Steven Konkoly. FABULOUS!!!

3) 77 Days in September by Ray Gorham. ANOTHER FABULOUS!!!

4) We Hold These Truths by Skip Coryell...Loved it

5) Home Invasion by William Johstonne....It was ok

6) What Came After by Sam Winston

7) The Pandemic Diary by Brett Arquette....Read a sample and it is definatley on my reading list

8) Trapped by Michael Northrop

9) Pandemic by Patrick Daley

10) Torment by Jeremy Bishop

11) The World Ends in Hickory Hollow by Ardath Mayhar

12) American Apocalypse: The Collapse Begins by Nova

13) Lights Out by David Crawford.....found this story online and read it before it was put in ebook/book format...can probably find it free

14) Surviving the Fog by Stan Morris

15) Hold Their Own: A Story of Survival by D. Allen, E.T. Ivester and Joe Nobody

16) Land of Ash by David Dalglish

17) H10N1 by M.R. Cornelius

18) What So Proudly We Hailed by James Howard....LOVED

If you know of more please add....I can't believe I'm just finding Deep Winter. Just wish B&N would price match it!

Don't forget one of the classics...probably the first one I ever read:

20) Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank

These mostly come from SciFi writers...and pre-date the more recent :smiley_shitfan: fan clubs...

21) Nothing Sacred by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

22) Shudder Child by Warren C. Norwood [can't even remember if this one is good or not???]

23) Farnham's Freehold by Heinlein [and be aware...well, it's Heinlein! ]

The next two are scifi writer S.M Stirling. Very creative writer but sometimes the paths that his characters take are a bit ....more than I want to read about. Esp. the 2nd and 3rd books after 'Island'.

24) Island in the Sea of Time by S.M. Stirling A HooeyHitsFan/survival afterward wwith a time travel twist. I love time travel scenarios.

25) His other series begins with Dies the Fire ...I think! I'm still trying to find it at a used book store. But I have three of the other ones...waiting..

Last Light by Alex Scarrow Brit SHTF novel. I must admit I can read JDY & TOM and most US SHTF authors with enjoyment. With Scarrow I have to put the tale down and take a break quite frequently. The sense of desperation get a bit disturbing.

I hadn't heard of that one. It's not available on Kindle so far. There is a Last Light by a woman, I think it's Teri Blackstock. By reading the descriptions, they are the same genre but written differently. I THINK hers is more gentle. I read it once but it was a long time ago. Now it's about $10.00 on Kindle. :grinning-smiley-044:

Free Kindle books are ruining me.

I have Dark Grid, read it in very fast time. It really was enlightening about the infrastructure of the power plants , as well as a very good story overall.
Very convenient to have friends in the military all trained to deal with setting up a whole new town too!
Still, I liked it.
wouldn't it be nice if we could all find that if we ever needed it!

For those of you with a Kindle (or use the Kindle app on a computer or phone) I recommend the following website
http://pamspridereco...ns.blogspot.ca/
The owner updatesitdaily with a list of books that can be purchased free of charge on Amazon. The books are geared towards homesteaders and DIY ers. There are lots of factual books but I have downloaded some good fiction from there also ( of course I can't think of any off the top of my head. Sorry ! )

Found a blog where someone is posting his story as he writes it. So far it's pretty interesting and his writing style is pretty decent. It's a 'what happens after the disaster story.

Thanks! That's one I didn't have. It looks like a longer one so I'll save it back and try to go through the shorter ones first. I really want to clear out some of the older shorter books to save space. I know there are books I want to read and not keep and it's starting to bug me that they are all there.
