Yup, I know I'm being silly, and I know my family is smart enough to know how to be safe. But I'm praying for the safety of my Big Dear Daughter, Son in Law, and Dear Grandson. They're starting out today on their "dream trip", traveling the historic "Route 66".

They're planning on being on vacation for 2 weeks... taking the car and going the whole route one way out, and back another way home.

DGS is almost 2. He may not do well being trapped in his car seat for so long. They need patience with him.

I'm worried about the mean ones along the way who might lie in wait for "tourists"... DGS's safety, their safety.

I know there are so very many *much* more serious concerns. But this Mama's heart is being non-stop worrywart. :(

Where words and actions disagree, the heart is revealed.

Look how often the unexpected happens... and we still don't expect it.

I am praying and a bit envious. DH and I always talked about doing the Route 66 tour. We've been to a few stops on the route and really enjoyed the experience. We actually met people from other countries doing 'the route'. Very interesting.

We will all pray they are safe.

You can't always get what you want, babe

But if you try sometimes, you just might find

You get what you need.

Praying for a fun and safe trip. Always wanted to do that myself.

Route 66 is one of my daughter's favorite songs to sing. (She sings jazz.) I will add my prayers to the others, but now I have the song stuck in my head :whistling: :

If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.

It winds from Chicago to LA,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.

Now you go through Saint Louis (Looey)
Joplin, Missouri,
And Oklahoma City is mighty pretty.
You'll see Amarillo,
Gallup, New Mexico,
Flagstaff, Arizona.
Don't forget Winona,
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernandino.

Won't you get hip to this timely tip:
When you make that California trip
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.

There goes Martian, singing to her chickens again. "Brawk 66"

Will pray for your young ones, Cat. And that God will keep you "in perfect peace as you fix your eyes and heart on Him". That way you don't have to trust your young ones to be mature enough to be safe all on their own. ;)

I love that route. I teach it using the Disney movie "Cars" - the whole pre Interstate highway system - it's a great movie and a great trip. Prayers for a safe trip and a wonderful time!!

The chickens kept interrupting and wouldn't let me get to the chorus...They said that I never let them ride in the car!

If you ever plan to motor west, (Bawwk... which way is west?)
Travel my way, take the highway that is best. (Why did the chicken cross the road, baawwk?)
Get your kicks on route sixty-six. (We don't like Kix for breakfast we like scratch & grit!)

It winds from Chicago to LA, (Bawwwk! We whine when you're late feeding us!)
More than two thousand miles all the way. (That's how far it must be to the feed store. It takes her forever to bring back our layer pellets!)
Get your kicks on route sixty-six. (Bawwwk! I told you we don't like Kix!)

:twister3: It just went on and on and on...

Having grown up on part of Route 66 I can say that it is beautiful trip. If the timing is right tell them to try to see the lights of Albuquerque at night from the west side. It is a beautiful sight to see. My parents lived at the top of what is called 9 mile hill just off of Central Ave(Route 66). The whole valley is full of lights....

Martian, you're a hoot.

You can't always get what you want, babe

But if you try sometimes, you just might find

You get what you need.
