Utah want its citizens to 'register' their gardens. It is being promoted as a GOOD thing, but it is really a very sneaky way of knowing where to find food when there is none anywhere else.

Welcome to Utah's Garden Challenge
How much food do we produce in Utah? Registering 10,000 gardens is an opportunity to find that answer as well as display our agricultural heritage. This challenge shows our state residents connection to the land. We impart self-sufficiency and take pride in our community. Whether you grow a tomato in a pot, a row in a community garden, have backyard gardens, a CSA or working fruit and vegetable farm, we want to hear from you because you are an important resource as a food producer.

Here is how one Utahn feels about it:

I can load fast enough so I don't bother with youtube but the answer to the topic heading is "NO".

Wonder how long until this winds up not being voluntary.

Nope!

Time to start looking at some gorilla gardening. Maybe time to commandeer the back yard at the office for some things people won't notice.

Not blooming likely, sweetie.
Polite enough for ya? ;)

Next they'll be wanting us to register our livestock, down to the last chicken. Oh, wait, they already do.

Well they'll have to come count the chickens. I've never been able to.

Stealth gardens might include hay bale gardening...soda bottle towers....etc. We're trying some alternatives and ALREADY it's paid off. We had to MOVE the bales to let the well pump truck get in to the well head. Replace water pump [necessities of life!!!]. Then moved bales back to the only flat square footage with adequate sunshine. [ there isn't much square "inch"age that is flat around here so it tends to have multiple uses.]

So if you can't find the garden, you can't register the garden.... just sayin'.....

Wow, you guys garden? I'm impressed!

Me? No, I don't garden. What?!? Are you telling me that bushy plant over there is an herb? Get outta here, really?!? I had no idea! Well, I'm still not eating it. Did you know it has spiders, praying mantis, and other bugs crawling in it? Eeewwwwww. No, I buy all of my food from the clean grocery store, thank you very much.

What garden? Ya know I've always been envious of those folks who know how to garden. Never could quite get the hang of it. Thats why I love to shop at my local farmers market. I'm all for helping out our local economy. Besides, I might get my fingernails dirty.... :happy0203:
