The U.S.A is in a drought of ungiven preportions....the corn for ethenal (misspelled) for gas is gone and the stupid president is going to compensate farmers for losing their crops...since they were paid for growing it in the first place.....those that have lost their hay will be eatting alot of animals and let me tell yea that beef prices and pork prices will be going uppppppppppppp!!!! there is less grain this year and last year did alot of farmers(*ranchers) in and they sold their herds.....feed lots are full and ranchers are sell calves as small as 400 lbs.....and the prices are up to 2.50 a lb live weight..........so you figure what the price will be when ya buy it from the store.........400 lb calves will stand in feed lots till the lot owner sees the right price and they weight one heck of lot heavier.....400 lb is a calf not a big critter/ so if you can get beef and can it and the same with chicken and any other meat...rabbit, turkey, pork, and any thing else...like deer and elk....with drought the wild critters will be coming in for food and that means chickens and gardens and any animal not locked and secure at night........

Meat prices should actually be down due to the sell-off. Watch for it. The sales barns are flooded with animals that are too expensive to feed--more supply than demand. Buy when the prices are low. Once the sell-off is over, then there will be a shortage and prices will rise.

The best swordsman in the world doesn't need to fear the second best swordsman in the world; no, the person for him to be afraid of is some ignorant antagonist who has never had a sword in his hand before; he doesn't do the thing he ought to do, and so the expert isn't prepared for him.

Also...with the price of feed (hay/grain) and the few select animals kept--the price for animals produced next year should be outrageous. Look for it to get worse next year.
With the drought in the south last year and the mid-west this year, if there's crop problems next year, no one will be able to afford feed to raise meat animals. Corn here in Indiana is being baled or turned to silage. If it wasn't irrigated, there are no ears. We're finally getting rain...but too late for the corn. Beans will be ok, if they are still flowering. Hoping for a 2nd cutting of hay. Hay prices at sale barn are $8-10 a small square, up from $4-6 last year and $3-5 the year before.
