Last year I made crochet scarfs as Christmas gifts. They were fast and easy to make. It was a Red Heart I made 6 of them.
This year I'm thinking about shawls. This is becoming my top choice.

I'm still working on the crocodile shawl for my DD2. That's a lot of stitches. :0327:

What are you thinking about making?

I love YouTube.

These are very interesting. Wish I could do it, and may try later on, but, not for a while. :) To much going on right now and will have to go get the hook.

I can't seem to get things to be the same, one smaller and tighter and the next loose and such. :( I know, practice, practice, practice. :)

You are so good.

One of the reasons I love You Yube is that I'm self - taught and don't read patterns well. I love doing the harder stiches and with videos like these I can do them. I can stop and review as often as I need to see it step by step. Last year I made the men rice bag that they could use as a hot of cold packs.
This year I'm think about making the men a scarf using a basket weave stich. This guy explains it well.

After Christmas I might try knitting. Than again after last time I tried :motz_6: :banghead: :gaah: Maybe not.

I'm going to try and get a few blankets and scarves knit. Will need to see how much time I can manage. I pulled almost half of DS1's scarf apart last night because there were a few mistakes that were driving me nuts so I'm almost back to where I was. Hoping to get it finished before the end of next week.

Hi everyone, I'm new and hope you don't mind me jumping in! I'm getting excited about beginning Christmas presents!

I just started friend and teacher gifts -- I need several dozen -- and decided to knit dish scrubbies this year, out of leftover yarn mixed with the netting from potato and onion bags. Last year I made dry mixes and had friends saving jars for me; this year they have to save their netting for me!

When my mom was little, my Grandpa made a cardboard Christmas village, about 8 little houses, and over the years they fell apart. Last year I copied one of the houses and made one for each of my brothers, my mom, and me. Each year I'm going to try to make each of us a new house from his originals. It was a lot of work so I really need to start!

My shawls are not going so well. Although I'm still working on my DD2 crocodile shawl. That' going to be heavy beast.

Your Christmas village sounds interestring.

I'm making Christmas pillowcases for each of our 5 children and their spouses and our 6 grandchildren. We will give them out at Thanksgiving dinner, so they can enjoy them all through December. Also planning on canning spaghetti sauce and ground beef for our kids. For the grandchildren: DH and I found some clothing items for each of them on sale and am also making various themed pillowcases for the older 4.

Rundgrenfan -- those village houses sound great - and also a cherished memory, I bet your family was really happy to get them.

Gofish -- that's the guy's tutorials I've been watching to learn to crochet -- I love his videos, I've tried some others, but his are the ones I have the most success with.

I am not sure what I'm doing for gifts yet this year. Still thinking, thinking, thinking......

Rundgrenfan, that is a very thoughtful gift. I'm sure your family will cherish them for many years to come.

I love the pillowcase idea!! I can only sew straight lines so this might be doable!

I think my brothers liked the gift. We aren't especially close so I thought it was a good way to start showing them I care.
