Buttercup...

I bought this pattern.. still waiting for it to come in.
http://www.buckaroobobbins.com/page8.html

live the name of this site.. buckaroobobbins! too cute!

scroll down to the sketch of apron...

I (still) OWE YOU an apron! I have the fabric.

Can you imagine wearing something like this everyday?
I don't know if I could get used to all that fabic being
in my way!

I'm a jeans and T-shirt kind of person, but I do love
aprons.

The apron Butter showed from ebay is what I want but
that's not my size. DARN!
(Vintage Full Bib Apron Pinafore Floral Full Skirt-
The apron goes on over the head and has actual armholes. There's a tie at the waist in back. The skirt is full and very fifties. Two front patch pockets.)

OK, I have a question. I have apron patterns, but they
are ONE SIZE FITS ALL. How do I take one of these
patterns and make it fit a plus size person?

I have another quesion? When having a party and you are
still preparing the dinner and you go to sit down should
you still have your apron on? Especially if it is an
elegant one, you know one with lace and frills? I have
seen movies (50ish) and they have these see-through aprons
that match their dresses, do you keep it on?

I have some of these aprons but they are so delicate,
and I certainly don't have any outfits that would match
them.

I believe the correct way to use the frilly aprons at a dinner is to go ahead and begin to sit, and then, with a delicately-produced gasp of surprise, dramatically "remember" your frilly apron (symbol of ALL YOUR HARD WORK), and carefully take it off and carry it to the side, where it lies to remind everyone that you are a gracious hostess and an excellent cook!!!!

I bought he buckaroo pattern because its sizing goes from xs to xxl. But I bought it not for the dress pattern but for the apron pattern at the bottom of the page.

I am a *plus-sized person* and usually wear an apron in the kitchen or I spill on my shirt/blouse. To me the little half aprons that tie around the waist would be a total waste because anything I spill would hit the top portion before it ever got down to that little apron . Being an almost non-sewer, apron designs are usually simple enough lines I think you could just cut the pattern a bit wider to suit your needs. I'm 5'2" and the other thing is the aprons made with ties and neck pieces that are meant for 5'll" folks. Again, I just wouldn't cut it so it was any longer than I needed. The other thing I do is when I'm knee deep in something like canning I just wear an old teeshirt that it doesn't matter if anything spills on.

Since I sew, I make something new when I am entertaining. I usually wear a dress or a pant suit. I make an apron to match. If it is a dress I make an apron that buttons on the front, like a pinafore. Think double breasted buttons on the dress with button holes on the apron. The pinafore type apron also ties around the back. The apron can be made of the same fabric as the dress so if you have early guests
and need to finish up anyt last minute details, you can greet them, excuse yourself, finish up and take off the apron and no one will actually notice!

Now most people think of pinafores as this cute rufflie apron that buttons up the back.. frillie! but not so. The true pinafore also called a pinner is an apron that was pinned to the front of the dress.

I am not sure how long this photo will be up but here is a sample of one of my more favorite styles for entertaining...

I agree that's why I love the bib style too.. I really get into it when I cook.. Plus I wear them when I butcher chickens or whatever else.. Since I am the double double plus size!

Hey Westie, here is my first post. Love them Aprons!

I bought lots of material *and* stuff to put on any aprons that I make, The problem is that I need time to sit and make some. I'm not good at doing little bits at at time, I like to sit and do the whole thing (family leave me alone, please...) and get them done. I mostly buy the ones I have off ebay or from thrift stores. The best ones I got were from when I visited Missouri a couple of years back. I want to make one for crafting and one for sewing, to hold the scissors, tape measure, extra bobbins, or whatever.

HI!! bought time you posted!

look around.. there is lots to see here. Get that sewing room done and we can work on an apron together. I owe buttercup an apron! (my way of letting her know I have not forgotten)

After about 20 posts you will get used to this format.

I like that one too.

I was telling Butter about wiping noses with the end
of my shirt. This apron would be good for picking up
eggs, toys and there is lots of space for wiping noses!

I unlocked this topic so it's accessible again. But many of the posts will look odd because some stuff was lost during three moves. And the names are all mixed up.

I'm sorry...
