    You Ok Reci?

  2. Thanks for posting this Lois.
  3. To clean bugs and leaves out of a child's wading pool, bend a wire hanger into a circle and then cover it with an old nylon stocking.
  4. Use matchsticks to keep worms away by placing them in the soil end down. The sulphur repels them. You can use a tablespoon of Dawn dish soap to a gallon of water to kill bugs on plants.
  5. Wrap those birthday gifts in plastic containers or shoe boxes or boxes of any kinds and cover them with a pretty scarf or a nice piece of fabric that can be reused by the recipient
  6. Get a fresh outlook by placing a few groups of potted plants around a tired room. The foliage will instantly brighten and soften your space. For that extra touch of practical romance, add a grow light. It’s good for the plants, but it will also cast beautiful, natural shadows around the room.
  7. Thanks for posting this M! and your right about cost of hair products and all prices on any merchandise
  8. Sour Cream Coffee Cake This is a real tried-and-true American classic that your grandmother may well have served to her friends. Baked in a tube pan, the cake has a layer of walnuts and cinnamon sugar in the middle and a topping of the same spicy-sweet mixture. In the variations, this filling/topping is replaced with a cinnamon-chocolate layer or a ribbon of raspberry jam and walnuts. Or create your own combinations. Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour 20 minutes 2/3 plus 1 3/4 cups sugar 2/3 cup walnuts, finely chopped 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup butter or margarine (1 stick), softened 3 large eggs 1 container (16 ounces) sour cream 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease 9- to 10-inch tube pan with removable bottom; dust with flour. In small bowl, mix 2/3 cup sugar, walnuts, and cinnamon. In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 2. In large bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat remaining 1 3/4 cups sugar and butter until blended, scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Increase speed to high; beat until creamy, about 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Reduce speed to low; add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. 3. With mixer at low speed, add flour mixture alternating with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture, beating until batter is smooth, occasionally scraping bowl. Beat in vanilla. 4. Spoon one-third of batter into prepared tube pan. Sprinkle 1/2 cup nut mixture evenly over batter, then spread half of remaining batter on top. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup more nut mixture; layer with remaining batter, then remaining nut mixture. 5. Bake cake 1 hour 20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. With small metal spatula, loosen cake from side of pan and lift cake from pan bottom. Invert cake onto plate; remove bottom of pan. Immediately invert cake onto wire rack to cool completely, with nut mixture on top. This is one of my favorite recipes and I made it with Splenda and it came out just as good as if I used natural sugars.

  10. When the weather is too darn hot and we don't feel like cooking I get up early and cook up some corkscrew noodles, let them cool. I cut up small chunks of chedder cheese, pepperoni, salami, tomatoes, cukes, onions and toss them in a bowl with the cooled noodles and marinate all the ingredience with Italian Salad Dressing or a wine vinegarette. I serve this up in bowls after it marinates all day along with slices of fresh Italian bread to dip into the marinade. Tall glasses of ice cold sun tea with slices of lemon and a strawberry sundae makes a filling and delicious meal!
  11. Maple Barbecued Chicken 4 skinless chicken thighs 3 tablespoons maple syrup 3 tablespoons chili sauce 1 tablespoon cider vinegar 1 tablespoon canola oil 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard Preheat grill. Combine syrup, chili sauce, vinegar and mustard together in a saucepan. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Brush chicken with the oil and season with salt and pepper. Place chicken on grill and cook for 10-15 minutes or until fork tender. Turn occasionally and brush generously with sauce. This is one of our favorite ways to barbeque chicken during the summer. Its a good company pleaser too if your throwing a bash!

    You Ok Reci?

I am still sick and very weak so I won't stay on long but will post freebies for all you freebie hounds... Another of my best friends passed away Wednesday from cancer. My friend who passed in January and Fran who passed away Wed and I were known as the 3 Muskateers. We were inseparable. I have been blessed knowing Martha and Fran and having them as part of my life. Both died from cancer and at a young age.. They were my best buddies. I just feel very sad over this great loss. I was closer to these ladies, closer to them than to my own sisters. I guess I feel lost right about now and being sick doesn't help.... Just had to vent

  24. City Chicken (not really chicken at all) 1/2 lb. pork 1/2 lb. veal 1 egg, beaten Bread crumbs (seasoned if you want) 1 c. milk Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut pork and veal into 1" cubes. Thread on bamboo or wooden skewers, alternating chunks of pork and veal. Dip the skewers in the egg, then the bread crumbs, to coat. Saute until browned. Put skewers in a baking pan, and add milk. Cover in foil, and bake about 1 hour. Does anyone know why this is called "city chicken"? One theory is that, years ago, poultry was expensive, particularly in the years prior to World War II. So cheaper cuts of meat (like pork) were substituted for chicken and "passed off" as chicken. Is this true? Another theory is that is just plain looks like fried chicken. Still another is that it is eaten with your hands, just like you would eat a chicken leg. Any other thoughts?
