  6. Our lives are patchwork quilts of mismatched fabrics, all stitched together by an invisible seamstress. The tattered, blood-red scraps of quarrels, the beige of pastry crust baked on Saturdays in a grandmother's kitchen that always smelled sweet, the brilliant colors of our happy moments--picnics and sunsets and laughter--all these are necessary pieces of the tapestry of our lives, even our cold, white doubts and emptiness. All the colors of life sewn together with the green thread of growth. We are a mixture of feelings and experiences. Often, we want to cut away a square of painful memory. But without it, our quilt would lose its beauty, for contrast would disappear. If a piece is removed, the rest is weakened and incomplete.

  11. Lipton Pasta Dish Mixes and other Brand Pasta Mixes. THUMBS DOWN! As far as these prepackaged " meals" are concerned I think they are a big RIP OFF and besides if you have a large family one small serving does not feed everyone. Look at the ingredience on these packages when your in the store and write down what the ingredience are and buy a cheap bag of egg noodles at Aldi for 39 cents and make your own pasta dishes and add your own spices to the dish.

  20. Baking Powder - To check and see if the baking powder in your pantry is still active, stir 1 tsp into one-third cup hot water. There should be immediate vigorous bubbling. If no bubbling or bubbling is sporadic, the baking powder is past its prime. - Homemade baking powder starts to fizz and release carbon dioxide the minute it is added to liquid, it is very important that the oven be preheated and baking pans be ready before mixing batter. Mix quickly and put in oven right away.
  21. This reality show is a pbs special where several people go back in time to the Edwardian Era and live as people would live in that time. From the Lord and Lady of the house right down to the char woman this is one of the best reality shows since Our own Frontier House Series. Next month or this summer PBS is having another series like this only the people will be living in Renaissance Times in England with Knights and Damsels in distress. I can't wait for this one to come on. PBS showed the previews and they were great.

  24. 10 Decorating Tips Decide to enrich your life. Start with color! If you want to try something colorfully bold, introduce it in small amounts first. Colors that work in harmony together, such as lighter or darker shades of the same color are naturally comfortable to the eye. Dynamic color combinations are pairings of complementary colors such as red and green. Color can underscore architectural detail, as the painted moldings of Williamsburg rooms or island houses painted in their happily contrasting colors. Establish continuity by using the same color in several rooms, altering the shade. Most designers prefer white moldings throughout the entire house unless there is a specific color scheme with contrasting moldings. When painting a room two colors, save the darker shade for the main wall. Never balance the colors fifty-fifty; it will rob the focal point. White, lavender, and pale blues and greens soothe - good for bedrooms, kitchens and baths. Dark ceilings do not make a room look smaller. The opposite is true. Darker ceilings push walls outward thereby increasing the perceived size of the space. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did You Know That...? Genghis Khan forever impacted Eastern porcelain by introducing the Chinese to cobalt blue which he carried from Iran. Missionaries shared the secret of pink with the Chinese. They fired gold to a certain temperature until it turned pink. If fired at another temperature, it turned purple! The most evenly balanced light is daylight having almost equal parts of all the colors of the spectrum. Daylight is never constant and will change at least four times a day: sunrise, high noon, afternoon and dusk. Candlelight is the warmest of all lights. Reds, oranges and yellows are beautiful under candle light, but blue and green become dull and lifeless. Because pink has a short-term calming effect, it is often the color of walls in prison holding cells. Yellow is the most difficult color for the eye to process.
