Wholesale Jars

Does anyone know of a wholesale source of mason jars? I'm not having luck online finding a decent price.

I have had somewhat good luck in finding them at rummage sales, but the prices for them have definitely gone up around here.

I have not been able to do any better than garage sales or thrift stores. Especially with shipping. Some of the jars online are flint glass, not meant for home canning, so keep that in mind. They are a one trip commercial jar, just meant for the commercial industry to use and then for the consumer to throw away.

Put ads on Craigs list or Freecycle, too. That may help you out. Ask little old ladies in churches, too. They often stop canning and will sell cheap or give away jars.

I found a woman on Craiglist selling them for $7/dz, wide-mouth quart, unopened.

 

So now the question becomes, best place to buy lids and rings? LOL

If the case of wide-mouth jars is unopened, the lids and rings should be with them.

 

Locally, I buy at a store called Fred's. Their prices beat any new retail. Including Wal-Mart.

I don't know where you live, but if you have Winco foods, their jars are half price now. BiMart has the cheapest lids.

Once I got a whole lot of lids on ebay. Really a good deal, even with shipping.

Rings here you can buy in bags at Goodwill sometimes.

We only have Wal-mart and one regional grocery chain to pick from here. I'll check ebay.
