Dee
It's full of omega-3 ess. fatty acids, magnesium, potassium. It also has B vit. protein & zinc. Many people take it in capsule form as a dietary supplement. I've tried cooking with it (bad idea unless you want everything to taste like old fish). check your local health food stores they can tell you more. I sprinkle the oil on my tossed salad and I use the flaxseeds and sprinkle them on my cereal . My doctor started me using Flaxseed Oil and I use all types of it now. Quote Link to comment
ozzzyyy
I have mixed flaxseed in my oatmeal amd thoroughly enjoy a hearty whole grain hot cereal. Thanks, Reci, for sharing other uses!! Quote Link to comment
logcabinmama
I've heard it is good for a lot of things, just haven't used it yet. Thanks again Reci. Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
If the flaxseed is cracked, it is easier to digest. Whole seeds can go right through you (No, I'm not going to verify that!!) Quote Link to comment
gardnmom
Flax seed can be ground in your coffe grinder for using on top of hot and cold cereal and we also use it on salads. It should be eaten immediatly after grinding. I like to mix flax oil and extra virgin olive for my Italian dressing and put the ground flax on top. It is delicious as well as good for you. kappydell
I use flax seed a lot in my high-fiber bread - I replace 2/3 of the fat in the original recipe with ground flax seed. Works great, and my bread is sooo much more satisfying so I eat much less. Of course I also have oat bran in there, half of the flour is whole wheat, and a touch of cinnamon to make me feel spoiled.... Quote Link to comment
