Jeepers
Four people that I went to high school with have died in the last month. It was a big high school but sheesh. I just saw the obit for a guy I knew. He was in a lot of my classes and was so much fun. He got killed by a drunk driver. The other 3 were "old age". I'm really sad about the one who was just killed by a drunk driver who, of course, survived. Must have been bad as it said he was DOA and there would be no viewing. Oh, and the car the drunk was driving was stolen that day. Sigh. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Losing those around us are nearly always a "wake up call" for us isn't it? Sorry to hear you've lost someone you knew in such a violent way :-( Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Thanks WE2. It certainly is a wake up call. I suppose one reason I feel so bad about it is because a similar thing happened to my niece about 10 years ago. A week after her H.S. graduation she was killed by a drunk driver in a similar way...DOA, closed casket. Her mom was my best friend in H.S. and later ended up being my sister-in-law. This was her only child. Her husband, my brother-in-law, died about a year before this happened from brain cancer. Quote Link to comment
TheCG
It seems to be suicide taking people out among my generation. These weren't friends from school, but an old (as in, from a while back, not OLD) friend of mine stepped out in front of a truck last week (on purpose). Another committed suicide a while back because he could no longer handle chronic pain. Quote Link to comment
Ambergris
Chronic pain will do it. Quote Link to comment
Momo
In the past year I have lost two of my old boyfriends...so very sad to lose pieces of our past. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Yes, chronic pain is a soul sucker and robs you of your joy. Whether it's suicide with a purpose or an OD, the results are the same. I was just talking with my D-ex today about chronic pain. My neck is hurting again triggering other pains. I know I could get pain meds for it but I don't want to start that route now; only because I don't want to build up a med tolerance yet. I'm delaying that as long as I can. I used to just have neck pain in the winter. Now it's year around. Some days it sounds like a bowl of snap, crackle and pop is in my neck. Grates on your nerves... Sending up prayers for all of us.
